Well, you can have all the midi outs you need with fitting scripts, you can send notes directly to any midi port with the Hardware Instrument...?

Yeah but it's not notes I need (except when I'm using hardware instruments - I know how to do that) but control messages going back to the Kore so that the endless rotaries know what position a device's knobs are in.

(However the hardware out does at least show that Bitwig could work this way - what we need is for the controller options to also show midi outs - either that or just a normal midi options panel like the audio one where you can configure i/os etc - if 2 has that I would be pleased to upgrade)

Is it working better with touch/surface or no changes at all?

Does it send out the song position pointer too? So you can scrub / etc and the position is synced? With the previous method (script), this was not available so you had to play the video from the start every time.

Any "enhancements" for onset recognition and stretch markers?

That is what MTC means - Midi Clock is just a "metronome" while Midi Time Code has the position too. Otherwise I couldn't have used it for Video sync.

My mistake - I was under the assumption that the SPP can be transmitted along with Midi Clock to synchronize transport position (and this was all that was missing from the older generic script method). In any case, it doesn't matter anymore if this is a true MTC implementation. Hooray!

"VST3 SUPPORT

We are happy to announce that we now support the VST3 plug-in standard, including per-note expression and sample accurate automation."

This sounds like it supports the polyphonic expression found in Steinberg vst 3.5 plugins. does anyone know if that's the case?

Also, its my understanding that VST 3.5 handles presets in a way that dovetails with Steinbergs media bay. It would be cool if BW2 could recognize these presets and their respective tags for the BW browser. Is that hoping for too much?

I would hope it does otherwise some plugins you won't be able to access their presets at all (eg Padshop)

a couple of questions for those with the alpha version...

- can you filter by midi channel on the track input?
- does MPE to VST 3.5 note expression work?
- any other MPE changes? better editors (e.g. like Cubase's in place editing)

Im keen to see the beta and test the MPE side, but Im assuming we wont see till after NAMM, and the press have 'filled their boots' :)

Same here, would like to know about this. I'd also like to know if they finally allow other pitch bend ranges other than 48 notes up/down. Logic and cubase are so much more useful with mpe type stuff because not all synths that have mpe type functionality have 48 note pitch bend. This isn't an issue with other DAWs but with Bitwig you can not use the individual note pitch automation without 48 pitch bend range currently.

I also wish you could not only filter midi input on the track level but the device level would be even better for using instrument racks.

Side note - Has there really been no Sampler improvements? This would be shocking as its the one most in need (loop fades etc.). Much rather see that enhanced than Polysynth, which is lost cause soundwise imho.

So nobody's actually tried it yet? I mean, do Bitwig 1.X owners have access to testing the beta already?

Post

Doesn't look like there is a beta yet

Post

Is there any improvement in the native midi clock timing respect to the script one? I always experienced timing issues with midi clock and hardware devices in Bitwig, hopefully now is it working better?

Thanks for any share on this

Post

No beta yet, but there are a couple of guys here with the late alpha.
