Can anyone tell me why this patch is making sound ? Unless I'm missing something it should be silent. Might be something obvious right in front of my eyes I'm just not seeing. Thanks.........

Yes on Osc 1 but Osc 2 is soloed. Look at the settings on Osc 2. It seems like Filter 1 is "bleeding through" to Filter 2. Filter 1 is not selected as active in Osc 2 nor is Osc 2 selected as active in Osc 1.

Yes but what you show is not the patch I posted. I know why Osc 1 would sound if it were not muted since Osc 2 is soloed. As I said Osc 1 is not activated on Osc 2 Osc 2 is not activated on Osc 1. To my thinking the patch as I posted it should not make any sound. Osc 2 is soloed, Osc 2 Volume is Zero, Filter 2 Volume is Zero, Filter Input is Zero. No Modulation other than MW to Virbrato.
I've actually got this to happen one other time and took advantage of the result to create a patch.
Let me post a screenshot of the patch as I posted it.........

I have no idea what's going on either hence the thread.ere2learn wrote:I admit defeat & have no idea whats going on...

Just to clarify in my screenshot above there is no Modulation going on except MW to Vibrato and the MW is at zero value.

I can get it to happen no problem from init patch
Turn volume down on all oscs
Turn inputs off for all filters
Resonance max filter 1
Turn on osc 1 input on filter 2
Move cutoff in filter 1
Turn volume down on all oscs
Turn inputs off for all filters
Resonance max filter 1
Turn on osc 1 input on filter 2
Move cutoff in filter 1

Yes but in my example Osc 1 is not input on Filter 2. Totally different results expected.ere2learn wrote:I can get it to happen no problem from init patch

It seems like Filter 1 is still sounding even though Osc 2 is soloed and detached completely from Filter 1.
As a test load the INIT patch and set Osc 2 just as shown above.....no sound at all as expected.
Anyway I'm going to go watch the football game now and take this up later today. It's more an issue of curiosity at this point......

Yes no sound, but max out resonance & move cutoff & were back to your original patch, correct?Teksonik wrote:

You're still missing the point. The patch I uploaded should not make any sound. Unless I'm missing something but I've looked at everything I can think of.....ere2learn wrote:Yes no sound, but max out resonance & move cutoff & were back to your original patch, correct?Teksonik wrote:

Hive has a very intuitive signal flow so there's really not much to overlook. I've only owned Hive for a few days but I'm already over 50 patches. It's a joy to program. I just stumbled across this issue by accident.
Yes I was kind of hoping Urs or perhaps Howard would weigh in. The way I look at it the patch as it is should not make any sound. It might have something to do with Modulation that has been assigned then deleted. It's Filter 1 that's making the sound even though it's not routed to Osc 2 which is soloed and set to zero volume nor is Osc 2 routed to Filter 1.Perimeter Sound wrote:Very odd behavior indeed. I solo'd the other others, and only OSC 1 sounds different. Switch the filter setting to *Clean* and it goes silent. This might be a mystery for Urs
It's not a big deal I'm just curious. If there is a way to reliably replicate this it could lead to some interesting possibilities.
