...they first need to eat a nice thick slice of humble pie. :D
Actually, I feel a little guilty saying that. Bitwig coders have probably been working there asses off last few months, and were super excited to see everyone's reactions to their new baby....rather than the shitstorm created by a half-baked business decision.

Can't help see some similarities between Bitwig and Pied Piper. :D

This thread is so familiar to anyone who ever managed a retail business: customers trying to bully the seller to lower their price.

Sorry, but they (the BW guys) just destroyed their credibility in my eyes.

Damage is done. Refund is in order for V1 purchases. They promised updates would be free , a modular environment in V2 and a reasonable V1 to V2 price ( not 3/4 of V1 ). Other than that they have done pretty much not very much in 3 years. Now they have destroyed customer loyalty they had. They would have to seriously amend policy to keep their customer base.

Meh. This is about customer being angry that a company changed their business model. People are not angry about the price, they are angry about the subscription model.

In fact you could read the changelogs and see, they're all online.

Upgrade price is very disappointing , V2 features after 3 years is very disappointing , but the 12 month update fee thing is the final straw

I really hate this new business model. Back when cakewalk decided to go this route, I was so mad that I gave my account away for free. Promised myself to never buy anything from cakewalk again.

That's the software equivalent of self harm.

There aren't really two licence models exactly the same in DAW world so I'm not sure why people are comparing.

Bitwig's compensation for work rendered is really not the question, as far as I'm concerned they've already been paid, version 1 did not deliver.
Your opinion. Bitwig is my favorite DAW and I have no problem with it. Can't wait to get version 2.

Like I said.
Bullies are posting negative comments in six different threads.
Its not about music tools. The 'mob mentality' has taken over.

You speak no wise words. People are pist because missing features that was promised! Changing pay model, when buying a daw you also check how their price model is. They say you dont pay for updates only upgrades. Fair you think and decide this daw then is a good deal! But then they go about making it one of the most expensive daw (now pay to get updates)with missing features that was promised and yet manage to keep up with the standards off a basic daw. They changed what you paid for! Lets decide you pay for a house to be in a certain way! Then you get to know how many hours the work gonna be and get a pay plan! But then mid through they change the pay plan and make it a lot more expensive! Thsts what happend!

Just thought that i'm ready to pay even 199$ but for this model:

Free updates/bug fixes for 1 full version number. For example, if i registered user of Bitwig 2.0, i can download all versions up to and including Bitwig 2.99. With this type of model no matter how long it will be in development but in DEV's priority will be deliver new update as fast as possible. For me this type of payment is ok IMHO.

... sorry but you guys need to get your definitions straight... a bully is someone who uses their strength or influence to intimidate weaker people... the power abuse is not from anyone here--- the only power we have is our ability to comment on threads... I would suggest that if you're ok with the new license model then why are you commenting? surely this is a debate between Bitwig and the disgruntled license holders, I get it, Bitwig apparently can't speak for themselves so the fanboys do their dirty work, just like how they pay for the privilege of beta testing.
