Just a question as to why the general opinion regarding MIDI editing in Tracktion is that it stinks??

Now, I understand (a)the pain of no scale markers; C0,C1,C2,etc... and (b) trying to use the pencil in the Piano Roll is a joke, but.... it records just fine from a MIDI keyboard (latency is an issue w/ my slow machine but hey, that's my problem) and the automation envelopes are freakin' amazing!!

It seems to do everything most otherapps can do with MIDI so besides the 2 issues I've mentioned above what's with all the crying??

have you used the midi in reason? that's why I cry. I love Tracktion, but it's a little hard to program stuff. Compared to all the other aspects of T, you just expect everything to be sooooo easy to use. I'm sure it'll be fine in V2, but for now it just leaves me wanting a little more.

Expand the piano roll and there are octave markings. Learn the keyboard shortcuts and midi editing is fairly decent.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Hey... look at that!! Now we're rockin.

I haven't used Reason but my other sequencers are CMuzys, FLS, Acid & eXT. Each of those has their own little unique MIDI functions; example, Chords and Slides in FLS and Pattern Compose in eXT, but I do really like the quick clip copy&paste&edit in T.
Makes for quick arranging.

We'll do!
