All it means is they can offer it as a crossgrade instead of an upgrade and charge more
So Tracktion was resurrected only to be ended by its own company.

hahaha ... they rebranded their main product, and changed its name. They didn't end anything.aMUSEd wrote:All it means is they can offer it as a crossgrade instead of an upgrade and charge more

tracktion was really cheap - if the new version is better and still cheap with a reasonable upgrade / crossgrade price (which they imply will be much the same as previous upgrades) then that is all to the good as far as I am concerned - T8 or waveform1, if the pricing is within the historical range then no-one is worse off at all. Better than some other companiesaMUSEd wrote:All it means is they can offer it as a crossgrade instead of an upgrade and charge more

But as a new tracktion owner - what did they used to charge for an upgrade?
OOPS - I see the upgrade from T6 to T7 is $30 - that is incredibly reasonable if they keep to that price for the new product

Yeah well I haven't had good experiences of 'rebranding' - it usually just seems an excuse for charging more to 'crossgrade' because it's no longer an upgrade

They had to rebrand the software because Tracktion would NEVER contain a real horizontal mixer view...

Obviously they have added in a bunch of stuff and also made the point in their email " Current users of Tracktion's T5, T6 and T7 DAWs will be able to upgrade to Waveform as usual. "
But if it is shitloads to crossgrade rather than $30 or so then that is different for sure
And video still has to actually work for me to be interested regardless of the price

This Sonic State article has a video about the Pi & "Waveform", but some interesting details about TSC and what they've been doing as well too:

On a more positive note I would hope that having it running on Raspberry Pi is an indication of how optimised it is - hopefully that means less glitchy

Honestly, i dont think it'll be pricy. In the interview, it was stated that making a raspberry Pi version was because its more affordable to the people in backward countries.
