Here is part of the email The new Waveform DAW (above) takes all the key aspects of the T-Series, such as the ability to control all functions from a single screen, and adds a set of powerful features designed to speed workflow and provide a more universal appeal. The most obvious of these new features is a dedicated mixer page and a new suite of powerful plugins but all aspects of Waveform have been updated and streamlined. Current users of Tracktion's T5, T6 and T7 DAWs will be able to upgrade to Waveform as usual.

Thanks to "Lay it Productions" for sharing the very new NAMM TSC video (14 minutes)...
If I understand the Woody speech, the new DAW (W1 ?) essential characteristics will be all the T7 actual characteristics, plus... :
- a modular mixer (I remember all the discussions about "Mixer or Not mixer" some... months and years ago..., related to Tracktion DAW since T1.6...
;
- a sophisticated sampler (Collective Sampler) with actually 5 Gb content ;
- a new MIDI editor with the capability of "inspirational creativity" for "Dry" songwriters, proposing on demand Chords progressions, Melodies, Bass progressions, etc...
- ... am I missing something ?
==> do you hear the date (more or less) it will be "downloadable" ?
Seems to me a really very nice update !!
Nice job TSC teams !!
An impatient very long time user,

maybe they'll adopt Bitwigs update policy...
<trolltrolltrolltroll>
As a longtime (casual) user this definitely looks like the direction they should be going in. Maybe 'classic' Tracktion will get left behind but there's only so long they can keep adding bits and bobs to the existing framework.

I really hope so.GaryG wrote: As a longtime (casual) user this definitely looks like the direction they should be going in.
It looks like finally I might get to see the perfect blend between Reaper´s Audio handling and FL´s Piano roll.
I hope so.

I would say it will be same price to just upgrade your DAW. This is just a guess but it seems they are planning to bring aray of new product to come, some of these products will bundle with Wave Form to make that price difference come in to play. I told everyone TSC being quiet is always a good thing. So it looks like they done the best thing, most of the hottest DAW's just made a update previously so when Wave Form drops it will be no competition to compete with so everyone who looking for something new or different will give Wave Form a shot, An changing the name will make it easier for someone to change to Wave Form even if they didn't like Tracktion. My reason for thinking it will upgrade at the same price is all the real Tracktion users all felt like T7 was just the start of something new but with the same concept and not as many updates as usual. I can almost guarantee the same price at least for a grace period and with the Raspberry PI being exactly the same DAW with all the bells and whistles I doubt a price changes, for sure TSC is all about the easiest and fastest way to make music for a reasonable price and it keep getting better. Just think also when it drops that mean T6 will be free and T7 will come with select hardware with its purchase, so TSC will have the best fully functional free DAW and the Freshest DAW on the market and we will see were Wave Form sits in the rankings now, but people will learn quickly once you get the hang of Tracktion Softwares it's had to leave it alone you will only wish it had something your favorite DAW had or has and don't we all wish we can have our cake and eat it to.

I hope Waveform will have ARA.
Will it be multi-touch friendly?
Too bad Waverazor is so edgy.
I am more into ambient music.

When the Mackie plugins disappeared in T4, a lot of users ask for them, but a lot of "old" users said to TSC that it was not usefull to have a lot of plugins "imposed" in the Tracktion Daw (as in Mackie times - T2 and T3), because with the time, all users may have personal plugins (freewares and "paidwares" workhorses) and don't want to buy a big price for the Tracktion Daw because they pay for plugs they don't use.
Why I tell you this episode of the story ?
First point,
as far as I know, very very few companies owning more than one product, have the name of one of their product as the same name of the company (exemples : Cubase, Logic, DP, reaper, Live, StudioOne, Protools, etc...). It was even not the case when the beginning of the Tracktion Daw, product of the Raw Material Company. It must be the case when a company as only one product... sometimes...
Second point,
for me is an actual good idea from the TSC guys...
If you have a lot of plugs, you buy or you update only the "basic" Daw (in the actual case, the W1). A really little price (for the moment, for sure...
... as Reaper, for exemple...
If you haven't a Daw, if you haven't preferred plugins, you can buy W1 + the premium Plugins collection (inspired by the FabFilter products, and you are sure they will be adapted to W1 AND they will be great for a really interesting price for all other future Daws you will own) 16 plugs at a cheap price + synths (BioteK for instance... remember that technically speaking, BioteK is one of the biggest Monster Synth in the synth's world today - but this is an other topic).
So, to be musically creative, if you want to go with TSC, you will find a simple and very ergonomic but very powerfull modular DAW and a complete (not yet, but with a little bit more time...) modular digital studio production tool at a really modular and cheap price...
That is the reason why I think that TSC has a consistant marketing view...
My 2 cents opinion...
We may (or not) now discuss on the new named Daw as "Waveform"... new ? original ? well marketing named ?...etc ... but...
1. this is an other topic...
2. if we are for a long or very long time Tracktion's sympathisers, we are not executives of the TSC company...
So... Impatient to play with these (WOW !!) new tools !
Cheers,
Lutin mutin.

I have seen again all the NAMM videos concerning TSC and MOK...
I have heard in the Woody's mouth that the Collective Sampler was not totally finished today, but I didn't heard an expected released date for the Waveform product.
And yes, the WaveRazor product has been announced for march, 1st, but nothing related with WaveRazor AND Waveform for the same released date.
Have I missed something ?
