I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do FLS but if you want to rename your patches in the file structure, and then have those new names reflected inside of sylenth1 when you load it, I'm pretty sure you'll have to import all of those patches into a bank, i.e., there's no way to have sylenth1 just scan a given directory full of .fxp files and have it load them all up on startup. That said, importing patches into a bank is really easy since you can multi select patches for import, I've done it several times while organizing my presets and it's a snap.
Also, there aren't 128 patches per bank, there are 512. Each bank has 4 pages of 128 presets each, you select a page using the "1,2,3,4" buttons in the top bar of the LCD display. There are 4 factory banks, each one with a few hundred presets, if anything the 1,300 preset estimate on the website would be lowballing it, I think.

Well, I have a folder and within that 9 instrument category subfolders filled with 200+ fxp patches. I never work with sound banks. That is a concept that dates back to hardware synths with all their limitations, and of course memory cartridges etc. I think in terms of instrument categories. Just look at the factory presets in those sound banks, it's a mess, with pads scattered across various subbanks, basses scattered across various subbanks, etc.
I am using the use file name option now, that is good enough for me.
I did not know there were banks and subbanks. When I clicked the soundbank folder I saw 4 files, and I erroneously thought those corresponded to the numbers 1-4 on the display. If there had been 3 or more than 4 files, I would have noticed that the number 4 was a coincidence.
