When I first read that Bitwig was going subscription based I became very upset. To me, it felt like A company I was proudly supporting had stabbed me in the back, and this very well could still be the case as there are many unanswered questions about the subscription. But before I jump to conclusions I would like to ask these questions here and hopefully get some much-needed answers.

1. Will there be a Bitwig 3? This is important for people who might be upgrading sparingly. If we skip a whole release of Bitwig do we have to rebuy our license at a steeper price?

2. Hypothetically if you are one of the unlucky souls who missed a major update by a few weeks, will you be punished for it?

3. Will bug fixes be free? It would be extremely unfair to miss an important bug fix by any amount of time.

4. Does Bitwig plan to release new updates frequently i.e at least once a quarter? This would including new features and requests. Basically does Bitwig plan to do everything in their power to keep their customers happy, and not feel like they are being scammed(Especially at $170 a year)?

I'm sure others have questions regarding this potentially Bitwig bankrupting subscription policy. Please add to this thread.

I'd like to know:

1. Can I resell Bitwig with subscription to somebody else transferring the license with remaining subscription time?

2. Can you explain what does this sentence mean: "After the 12 months, you can renew your upgrade plan at an attractive and affordable price."?

3. What's the rough roadmap for the following months? I'm guessing people would like to know what are they paying for.

4. When can we expect first version of the modular framework?

5. How are you planning to prioritize bugs reported by users? This is important, because people have fixed "window" when they can get bugfix updates and I can easily imagine situation where someone's bug will not be fixed because it was considered unimportant. In that case this unlucky person's subscription is effectively "less valuable" than others (edit: perhaps the solution would be - record when the bug was reported and not when it was fixed ?)

Thanks!

Please be so kind and check the rules before posting:

"As this place is intended for discussions and user interaction, it is not the right place to submit actual bug reports, questions or feature wishes to Bitwig's support and development team."

You can find the official details of the upgrade plan here:

We just can't monitor every single forum post and want to give you the best possible support.
Therefore please help us doing so by asking the sales team directly If you have any questions the FAQ on the license model doesn't cover. Feel free to contact our sales team at any time for an official answer!

From the link you provided:
The purpose of this forum is to offer our users a place to discuss everything related to Bitwig Studio[...]
Seriously?
And not answering this questions doesn't make things any better

These questions has mostly been answered in other threads/on their website.

1. You have been able to resell your copy(account), and there's nothing suggesting that will change.
2. It means 2 things. If you payed 399$ for your license, it will cost 170$ for the next year, and the 170$ is subject to change.
3. We don't know their internal roadmap. Don't expect them to tell us. All we know is that they are planning to unlock modular system at some point, not too far into the future.
4. ---
5. I wouldn't know. They probably prioritize by how severe they are.

1. If there will be an new version named Bitwig 3.0, it will be free for everyone who has an ongoing subscription.
2. You won't get something you didn't pay for. Call that whatever you want. You will only get compensation if you can't use your version at all because of an OS update etc.
3. Bug fixes are free for those with an active subscription.
4. Yes, Bitwig will release features as soon as they are ready.

@LimEboy
I'd prefer official answers from Bitwig and not random bits from different answers scattered through the whole forum

I explained already where to get official answers.
I also have to report you to the KVR admins, as you seem to use several accounts from the same IP.

Which can also easily happen if your provider is using dual-stack light (as mine does for example).

Absolutely, that's why the KVR admins should check it in detail.
Back to topic: If there are any open questions to the upgrade plan, please check what i posted in this thread.
