Well, the visuals (graphics) can vary quite dramatically depending on the dev. But the User Interface is an entirely different subject, IMHO. Proton may not look as pretty as you'd like, but it's UI is very easy to get around and automate.Numanoid wrote:One of the examples of the improved UI, I am still not blown by the visuals:eXode wrote:and improved UI to the Rack Extensions toolkit.

Yes.chk071 wrote:Is that really true though?
I honestly don't know the mechanics behind it. All I know is that some devs do it, and they've never shared that info.chk071 wrote:As far as i know, PH get a share of the sold RE's, right? How would a dev account for a crossgrade, or a free version VST-to-RE? I only know it the other way around, e.g. Synapse offer The Legend free as VST, when you bought it as a RE.

Ok. My bad actually, i just checked. Synapse offer crossgrades for both options, RE -> VST, and VST -> RE: https://forum.reasontalk.com/viewtopic. ... 55#p284155

I did it this way. First bought the VST then got the RE for free from Richard placed into my PH account.

Please correct a non Reason user... but isn't part of the new options for UIs, the possibility of forgoing a 3D modeled interface? I honestly don't know so this really is a question.EnochLight wrote:Well, the visuals (graphics) can vary quite dramatically depending on the dev. As far as I know, devs are no longer required to model in 3D. Just doing 2D is fine. I can't source the info (it was mentioned by several devs though).elxsound wrote:

Any idea if its as of the 9.2 update or is this old news? Either way, this should add more interest from devs to support rack extensions.EnochLight wrote:As far as I know, devs are no longer required to model in 3D. Just doing 2D is fine. The restrictions were relaxed some time ago. I don't remember when though.elxsound wrote:Any idea if its as of the 9.2 update or is this old news? In my case I am interested in the modular aspect of the reason rack. I am also interested in the propellerheads model where one license stores all your RE purchases. I was a reason user long time ago. I use other DAWS now and I like to use my plugins in any host I use. Rewire is not being developed as far as I know. If the reason rack was available as a VST/AU plugin I would be very interested in buying REs for that rack that I could use inside my host. I am not the only one I think, and they are loosing a lot of potential customers like me. Maybe it is technically too difficult or their reason user market is big enough for them and the RE developers.chk071 wrote:I don't think so too. Why would PH establish their own format, and earn on it, just to switch to VST, turn their back on their whole concept, and enter a market they're unarmed to enter? You wouldn't be able to handle VST's like the included, or RE devices anyway.EvilDragon wrote:It's never gonna happen.
