Hi guys - simple question. Is there any way to move the presets of Diva to an external drive? I tried to create a simple alias to the presets on the external drive, but Diva doesn't seem to read the presets.

Anyone knows a trick or two?

I tried it on the Mac, but it didn't work. But it works on the PC?

Re-install is an option & you could choose the default path in setup

That's a really clever solution that should work! Thanks!

Try a symlink instead of an alias (works for me)

Tried a few times but couldn't get it to work. I guess you have to check the Hard Link option, but then it complains that I am selecting a folder rather than a single file. How did you do it?

Could you post a screenshot of your Symlinker window or tell us the paths that you have in the Source and Target fields? Probably you're linking to an existing folder.

Actually, I think even regular shortcuts should work. This is how, for example, Zebra 2 presets are linked to Zebra HZ presets... there's just a regular link to the Zebra 2 presets folder within Zebra HZ presets folder, and it all works...

Yes, you have said that a couple of times now. If you read my original post you will see that was the first thing I tried.

Are you trying to symlink the preset folder itself (which does not seem to work for any u-he plugins), or a subfolder inside it (which works, at least on my Macs)? In other words:

/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Diva -> (preset_folder_on_external_drive) = does not work
or
/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Diva/3rdPartyPresets -> (preset_folder_on_external_drive) = works

I have created a symlink called "3rdPartyPresets" inside the default preset folder, which points to a folder on an external drive, which contains, surprisingly, all 3rd party sound banks I have bought. All factory presets still live on the boot disk. This isn't quite as elegant as moving & symlinking the whole preset folder, as it means having to click the folder open when I want to browse the 3rd party sounds. But I'm used to it already.

Another thing: it's best (and easy) to create symlinks using terminal. At least that's how I do it, and it works. So, open terminal, and type:

cd /Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Diva
ln -s /Volumes/YourExternalHD/YourPresetsFolder [optional_name_for_symlink]

If you omit name for the symlink, it will be the same as the external preset folder (you can of course rename it later).

Hope this helps!
