As for transients - here's the problem: it hasn't even been defined what a transient is
Is there a way to equalise transient and sustain separately?

Hmmm, could you send me some audio that does that?

. It's problematic, because every definition ends up in some extreme case for which it doesn't work. With all the variety of sounds one could want... So in most cases the transient detectors are searching for abrupt changes in level. But the quicker they find one, the quicker the transient is considered "stopped" as well... So anyway, there will always be a signal that would be able to fool a transient detector imho. I think in many cases even 2 people could disagree if/how much something is a transient.

It was pretty much that which made me curious about this. The Eventide plugin seems to do a spectral separation of transients/tonal. I'm not that impressed with it though, from what I can hear.

Hehe well, I'll check when it's released (remind me please
). Right now I don't see anything too awesome in there to be honest.
