I'll go out on a limb here, it's stupid. They've lost a customer over it. Bought Guru when it came out, was stunned at how much the upgrade cost, 60%+ of the asking price. Finally bought Geist on sale for cheaper than the upgrade price, and probably will never buy Geist 2. When upgrade prices are worse than buying a product new, I as a customer get the feeling that I'm being strong armed to be part of their income without any real incentive. Loyalty to existing customers is a low priority for your company if you offer upgrades at inflated cost and never include them in sales, no way around that.Scotty wrote:FXpansion has odd sales approaches. Their expansions for BFD 3 and Geist 2 go on sale fairly often and at good price reductions but they don't seem to reduce their prices on their upgrades. Perhaps I've missed some promotion but i don't recall seeing them discounted. I do own Geist 2 because I was one of their beta testers but a BFD 3 upgrade remains out of reach for now.

These products don't exist in a vacuum, Maschine and Spark even have dedicated controllers and not as greedy upgrade paths, haven't touched Geist in years now...

and imo, they are brilliant if you spend the time to get familiar with the melda way of working - especially MXXXcore which is utterly, stupidly powerful for the money when it's in one of their 50% off sales.

My warning was to the original poster, who is known for being disappointed with gear, and thus should make sure there is a backdoor

Has anyone jumped in on the Noiiz $89 All-You-Can-Eat sample download thing? If so, what do you think?
I have 2 quick questions:
1) From their website, it looks like the plug that would integrate with Cubase isn't ready yet (PC). Is that true?
2) Are the sample formats .wav only? I prefer REX or .aiff.
Anyone?
Cheers

I think it is a great no-brainer deal for anyone who has an interest in loops (plenty of one-shots too).
1) Windows version is not ready yet.
2) .wav only (downloaded dozens, saw no exception so far), plus sampler formats like Kontakt, SFZ, etc.

Izotope Iris 2 $49 @ Audio Deluxe for 48 hours.
Great deal, but really disappointing to read about all the bugs and insufficiencies, and even more so about how little attention they pay to user feedback. Like here, but not only.

The 20% transfer fee is 20% of the full undiscounted price so for most people who buy the plugins at 50% as part of their eternal sales that transfer is a 40% cost. So you should really do your homework and not plan to sell your Melda stuff. Once purchased it is hard to move it in the marketplace as you have to price it accordingly and you get pocket change after the transaction is complete. This is not a criticism, merely an observation. I love their stuff, the coding is incredibly tight and the power of the plugins is exceptional as is the response from the developer who is very active on kVR.

I jumped in and already got my money's worth. Downloaded 2 great sample packs. Cruising the random drum loops is inspiring. Looking forward to the software being available for PC.
For anyone looking for a really huge, searchable database of samples/loops with unlimited downloads, the
$89/year unlimited download special is good for another 9 hours (ends Midnight GMT) www.noiiz.com

Last day today for special offer $89/year unlimited downloads. Offer good until Midnight GMT. Tomorrow price goes up to $199/year
Good stuff there.
Based on that I wonder if this stuff isn't selling by itself
Tt seems like a certain bet that tomorrow the deal is extended

It is good to know for casual users, but for anybody wanting quality they would want to stick with their Melda Plugs anyhow.
