Hi,
I love SB and I'm still using it in 32-bit.
But in the 64-bit world, I switched to FAUST.
It has very unusual style, but is very easy to learn and make plug-ins.

As Sonicbirth was and actually is GPL licensed, you should publish the source so other developers could help wake it up again..

Read back through this thread for a suggested solution. SB2 just checks system clock for expiry so it seems that you can run a fake clock and launch SB2 without problems.

Hello all.
It's been a while since this thread was updated... hope it ain't dead yet. Did v2 ever make it to beta? Does anyone still have a dmg for the latest version? I'm looking to either build or load an existing SB project (currently using 1.3.1) and export to C++. The whole wire anchor/block diagram designing interface is perfect for someone like me, with moderate knowledge of DSP theory but little programming knowledge. Any help or information would be appreciated.

During a hunt for a free and working OSX convolution reverb I found out that you can pass the expiration date check with beginner terminal skills and libfaketime.

1) Install the Homebrew package manager if you don't have it yet http://brew.sh/ (http://brew.sh/).

2) Install the faketime command line utility from homebrew, and coreutils for making the example command lines using gdate work.

3) Run the Sonic Birth from terminal using a fake system time making the program think it's 2015 .

I suspect it's even possible to integrate the tool with the app by following the guidance on README.OSX to make it work by launching normally, but for now I'm happy with running it from the terminal.

I spent a good couple of hours trying to get this sh#t to work, I'm on El Capitan and there is no other way than to manually install this 'faketimelib' into /usr/ along with a gazillion other files needed for Github and Homebrew, which in my opinion is total overkill. (I did not manage to get it working).

Manually setting the clock back (I guess for each instance of using the app) is an easy way to bypass the 'Alpha Expiration' message.
*there is a 'Save' function now underneath the newly-set time/date in Mac OS X Preferences
