Hello there,

I have started using Linux for music production and even though I have almost everything I need, I have an issue with drums. Is there any decent Drums samplers or drums machines for Linux that work with T7?
AVL drums is a no go as T7 does not recognize them as plug-ins, but I am sure that there has to be something else out there.
Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

Take a look at drumgizmo.org. It is available as LV2 and VST but you might need to build it yourself. Let me know if you need help with that. T8 seems to have a nice sampler as well. Redux is also nice but does not come with drums.

Thanks.
My OS (UbuntuStudio) that it is already installed but T7 doesn't seem to be able to find it.
Odd.
I will dig deeper into this as I am used to Linux for desktop but never for music making.

Renoise's Redux Sampler , DiscoDSP Bliss sampler .... I thinkthe drum sample company Drumdrops makes some kits that work under Renoise so that means they'd work for Redux too ..... Anyways you can roll your own kit samples for these 2 samplers too . I think those 2 are your best options as of now .

If you don't mind wine, Ezidrummer works really well on every distro I have tried

I've had good luck with sfz sample sets (Salamander Drums in particular) used in Carla (from KXStudio repo). I made some edits to the sfz file to work better with my Alesis drumn kit (to make the hihat pedal work and remove stuff I don't use) and split it up into separate files for different kit parts (kick, snare, hihat, ride, toms, cymbals). I load them all up in one Carla - FalkTX has made a 16 output vst version of Carla which makes routing easy in Tracktion.

Regarding DrumGizmo - there was a bug in the vst interface that made the buttons to load kit and layout files not work in Tracktion - but that has apparently been fixed now in 0.9.12. I haven't tried the updated vst yet, but the old lv2 version worked well in the 16 out Carla with tracktion.

Just a quick note to let anyone interested that I got good results with Wine and KXStudio's Carla http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Applications:Carla
So far I have been able to load Microtonic in the Linux version of T7
It took me a while to figure out how to do it, but I might write it down or help anyone interested in it.
Now about to try EZ Drummer 8)
