Ooooooooooooo... Just received an email from synapse audio, telling that The Legend now has a band pass filter

Same here really, until recently when I started experimenting a bit more and noticed that certain reverb algorithms are better at giving a sense of "depth". Pre-delay is good to mess with too - especially if you set it to a musical value (100ms is a 16th note at 150bpm, for example)recursive one wrote: Thanks for the feedback and the reverb suggestions. TBH i never do very detailed work on reverbs. I have a hall as a global send for leads and a room as a send for drums and some synths and that's it. Will try more complex reverb configurations.
I'm getting really nice long hall reverbs from Audiodamage EOS - older plugin but the algorithm was written by the guy that made the Valhalla plugins, but I actually prefer it in some cases. And Slate Digital's "Verbsuite Classics" is sooooo good for plates, rooms, ambience... etc

Ooooh damn. I might have to buy that one now!Distorted Horizon wrote:Ooooooooooooo... Just received an email from synapse audio, telling that The Legend now has a band pass filter

Pretty phenomenal sounding synth when I played with the demo. Really jumped out the speakers at you.

The only reverb plugin I have is Valhalla Vintage Verb, I'm trying to keep my plugins at necessary minimum (and guys, please stop talking about how great is that your Legendandymcbain wrote:Same here really, until recently when I started experimenting a bit more and noticed that certain reverb algorithms are better at giving a sense of "depth". Good idea with tempo-synced predelay!
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Actually I didn't even install the demo, I have Diva and Monark and don't think I need another Moog synth for psy.

It's the first one on that list
You may want to get rid of monark after demoing, and forward that money to synapse audio.

I know where to get the demo
But frankly I'm not a big fan of their Dune and I see little relevance of a moog emu to psy. I did use monark/diva in few my tracks but not for the main sounds.

I agree about The Legend. Briliant emulation, but minimoogs are not great for Psy in my opinion. Too limited by its architecture and modulation ranges, as far as analog emo Uhe's Repro is more like it for me.
But yeah, something about the moog sound just never really grabbed me anyways.
talking about Reverbs though... I love some good reverb!
For me a couple stand out. Eventide Blackhole is a plug I lusted after for a few years before finally grabbing it recently.... Its brilliant! Well I love it anyways. It has a certain sound that I could get pretty nicely with Valhalla Shimmer but that plug is an emulation of Blackhole and it turns out Blackhole still has it beat (IMO).
For far out crazy modulating reverbs or even just modulating the reverb time I still usually turn to Space Master II (comes with reaktor). SUCH a good reverb!!!! pretty underrated or even forgotten but still awesome if you ask me.
Zrev (comes with Zebra) also is quite nice for this kind of thing, but I find Space master is a bit more flexible.
Of course if I want to make a realistic reverb that actually simulates a space I will usually use a convolution reverb, but that's not really what psytrance is about!

When it comes to blackhole, I once found it on some 24h crazy deal thingy. Cost only 39$. And I was stupid enough not to get it
Some reverbs I find good:
Realtimeonly - Reverbical (has some great micromodulation stuff)
Minimal system - Nebula (unfortunately only 32bit but those endless spaces or clangy verbs <3<3<3)
Voxengo - oldskoolverb (simple but works)
Reason - RV7000 mk2 (just awesome)
Aaaand upcoming Melda reverb is something very exciting
Btw Terra, have you tried some (for example) street noise as convolution? Or maybe pitched up reversed bounce from your track, that you're working on? Because IMO convolution reverbs are exactly, what's psytrance all about

yep I've had some great fun and great results doing experimental convolution stuff. It doesn't often find its way into my work though.... but extreme modulated Reverbs are in pretty much every track
I Can't believe you didn't buy Blackhole, I also got it in that sale, twas easily the best 39$ I spent in a while!
MTurboReverb? Does seem kinda interesting, I havn't tried it yet (still beta right?), but I am pretty underwhelmed with the standard Melda Reverb .... one of the least good plugs in that awesome large collection.
MMultiband convolution though definitely inspires me to get experimental.
Speaking of Melda, I made the most ridiculous reverby patch in Mxxx the other day, Granular, Convolution reverbs, Delays, Saturation....hmmmm

I've also missed out on several chances to get Blackhole cheap. Absolutely gutting. I've tried the demo of Valhalla Shimmer but never really got on with it. But EOS is filling my giant unnatural verb void right now.Terrafractyl wrote: I Can't believe you didn't buy Blackhole, I also got it in that sale, twas easily the best 39$ I spent in a while!
I really want to love Melda plugins... I really do... they should appeal to my geekiness but there's something about the family UI that puts me off.Terrafractyl wrote: MTurboReverb? I do own MPowersynth though... a bit flat sounding to my ears but I've coaxed some nice psytrance noises out of it - particularly using the vowel filter and the "character" knob

Love Melda too. MPowersynth is maybe a bit generic workhorse alone, but the fx section is what IMO makes it insane synth.
Though I like the sound of raw MPower. It's so.. Clean..
Aaaand UI can be tweaked nicely. Personaly I like:

I've now tested all Eplex7 plugins (http://www.eplex7.com/vstplugins.html), and I find them to be quite nice actually!
Shame they are only 32bit though.

Still yet to try those ^^ will do today maybe!
MPowersynth really is a bit of a beast though, Even just sweeping through the oscilator shapes on the OSC 'normal' tab plus a transformation or something and wow things can get pretty psychedelic pretty quickly.
THe UI's on all the melda stuff took me a little while to get over(so many windows!) but coming from cubase that kinda has the same problem, maybe it was less of an issue for me.
Still feels a bit like an early 2000's GUI, but what the hell, no other plugs come close to the level of control Melda's have. M-S, multiband everything ftw!
