That's not true at all. How do you think analog steep-slope filters are created? You pass a signal through the filter multiple times. This is where the number of "poles" in a filter comes from: how many times the signal is fed back through the filter. First time through the signal is decreased 6db per octave, the second time another 6 so it becomes a 12db/octave filter, then 18, then 24, etc.

Try it yourself, load up duplicates of any filter plugin with a gentle slope and put them in series. Compare the signal after each plugin.

In a delay, if you place a filter in the feedback path, each repeated signal gets filtered more and more. It's great for the spacey "dub" type effects.

Just chiming in to say:

a) it's not only about the features but also about the sound and the TAL-Dubs were always fantastic in that regard

b) 25$ equals roughly 2 pints where TAL resides (it's also approximately the minimum hourly wage)

Are these Oktoberfest 2017 prices?
Because that sure is frigging expensive for 1L of beer.

Do you really think I formed my opinion by just looking at the GUI?

No, normal pub prices... (okay, it's ~2-2.5 pints)

Post

What pub are you visiting, if a pint costs 10 bucks (considering we talk 25USD and 2,5 pints, not the intro price of 16USD)? Even 6 bucks is already pushing it IMO.

No Irish Pub over here asks for that much...

Well, TAL isn't a German company though (not to mention that Berlin is also for Germany relatively inexpensive)...

jens and Compyfox always good for some nonsense discussion ... you guys are so 'german'

I have been using Dub-X this evening, and it is in fact very simple, but sounds great. It does not do, or pretend to do, things that other delays can't, but if you want a really rich, dubby delay that has a lot of atmosphere, it is well worth exploring.

Nope, they're indeed not. But the beer comparison though... :hihi:
(pst - Berlin is not "that" cheap anymore - compared to Munich however - yeah, night and day. Though we're sadly catching up way too quick)

Hey, it's still on topic (price). :tu:

Seriously... more power to Togu Audio Line.

But in all honesty, the competition definitely didn't sleep in recent years - so the pricing might turn into an issue (for some people!). Let's see into what this will "evolve" in the future, and if we see certain features from the freebies back again (cross-feedback / channel flip and stereo controls).

And I'd would love to see the TAL-VOCODER with a bigger UI, TAL-Reverb3 is still a great artificial plate (I prefer it over TAL-Reverb2 and TAL-Reverb4), and man I'd love to see a revival of TAL-Flanger (which I love to use on overhead mics sometimes) and TAL-Bitcrusher. Not to mention: whatever happened to "TAL-Phaser"?

Actually - I'd love to see a wrapper that basically "zooms" UI's. Doesn't matter to me if things turn blurry - as long as the readability of tools are vastly improved that way. We're not on 1024x768px screens anymore after all.

Thanks, I thought it decreased a set amount.

This looks like fun! I'll have to give it a go.

The original TAL Dub was my go-to delay for a few years.

I have enough delays (both software and hardware), so I shouldn't bother with any new delay, but I think I'll make an exception with TAL Dub-X. I'm going to demo it as soon as possible.

It sounds great, very easy to get weird.

Question - what does the WIDTH control do?

The manual says the LFO is a stereo triangle so I'm guessing the width knob controls the phase offset between the two triangle waveforms?

Made a tune with the Dub-X. must say it's a splendid dubby delay. All you need to accel- or slow down. What brings a nice wash. Controllable and quality sound. Would never look for other delay although they are interesting. This one can be a designer delay if you put some love in it, depends on the creativity. It's where it's for.

This is the Tune :

Although I must say that I could not render the tune with the DAW. It made a crackling noise. I think It's still in Beta, so if TAL could look apon rendering issues with Dub-X then all is good for me.

Good days,.
