Actually, I think even this process is automated now. I went through this during the launch of Cubase Pro 9, and I didn't have to e-mail anyone. Just follow the proper link to the grace period sub-site (which was displayed somewhere, I think it was in "My Steinberg") and everything was done automatically.

Good to know :tu:

Is HALion exclusive to Cubase, or is it usable on other DAWs?

I suppose then I have to supply them with my Omnisphere or Komplete serial number or some proof of purchase?
I don't see a crossgrade for Omnisphere or Komplete. Is there a special link?

Can anyone tell me if Halion has per voice effects like Falcon? So for example overdrive/distortion that is per voice? It would assume the filters can be, but wondering what other effects can be per voice. Thanks.

Per-voice distortion effects via the filter module can be achieved, but other than that, no FX per voice.

Thanks. Too bad there aren't others but I guess filtering and distortion are the main ones you'd want for polyphony.

Are there many distortion modes or are we just talking a little filter overdrive?

Sorry, but can you explain "per voice fx" for simpleton dullard pensioners like me?

It's an effect where each voice is processed separately, rather than the signal of all voices going through the effect together. Like each string of a guitar processed independently rather than all six together. So it means that modulation can be applied per voice (or per key press). The classic example is a filter with an envelope on the cut off. If you press one key and there is an envelope that goes from open to closed for a darker sound over time, and then after the filter has closed somewhat, you played a second key while holding the first, the envelope is triggered again for the second voice and lowers the filter cutoff independently of the first, which remains with it's own filter cutoff value due to being at it's own stage of the envelope. So if you didn't have the filter per voice, you wouldn't be able to do that. Applying an envelope to a filter that was not per voice woudl mean that each time the envelope was triggered it would change the overall cutoff for all keys. One key could not stay with a lower cutoff as the other was initially brighter.

Hope that helps! When fx are per voice it opens up way more possibilities for sound design.
