I create my own loops with live audio. Typically I do this live with a guitar into a looper, then record it into a DAW.
In Logic I would record the phrase, trim the audio to the loop points, and then "Match Tempo to Audio Region". Logic would change the tempo of the project to match exactly (often to 3 decimal places) so that the region would loop and snap accurately on the grid.
Is there an equivalent function in Bitwig? If not, what is the best way of approaching making your own loops with live audio? I want the loop / recording to determine the tempo, not stretch the audio to match Bitwig.
I've read through the manual and searched the forum but could only find a few live audio requests like this, but maybe just don't know what it's called in Bitwig.
thanks!
Match tempo to Region

It is on my wishlist as well
There's no equivalent to the Logic (or Reaper, or...) function, but you can keep your loop in RAW mode, loop your selection, maybe zoom the end of the waveform to have a visual check of the grid, and fine tune the tempo in the transport bar by dragging the 2 trailing digits until you are satisfied.
In the clip inspector, you will find the automatic BPM guessing by Bitwig and you can use as a starting point: if it shows 103 BPM in the clip inspector, adjust the tempo accordingly and fine tune it.

Thanks for this. I came up with a workaround, and after doing it, realized that it's likely a version of what you were saying too. I recorded a video of it in case there are others that would like to do the same, or if someone has an easier way to do it. I wish it took 2 seconds, instead of 2mins, but at least there is a way to do it:pakunoda wrote:There's no equivalent to the Logic (or Reaper, or...) function, but you can keep your loop in RAW mode, loop your selection, maybe zoom the end of the waveform to have a visual check of the grid, and fine tune the tempo in the transport bar by dragging the 2 trailing digits until you are satisfied.

- Adjust the start and end of the region so that the audio loops seamlessly. (ignoring the grid for now)
- Snap the region to start at any bar
- Bounce the region (this trims the audio to just the visible region)
- Set the region end to equal the number of bars in your phrase (4 in my case)
- Set the new region mode to "Raw" audio
- Fine-tune the BPM of the project so that the waveform exactly fills the region container, using the decimal places if needed.
