Hi folks, silly question, but probably important, at least to some. Here are 3 visuals, notice only the right part, the meters.

Voters - please make sure that you display the screenshots at 100% size so you can see the differences (the forum software compresses them).

Here's a pic of all three side by side:

I think more important is a scalable meter and more values at the side and not showing the lowest amount of gr.

...seems to me, way too much real estate is devoted to meters in general...I'm only interested in the information available at the very top of the scale, where the "action" is...they don't need to be as wide either, how about more metered parameters instead...in most cases I don't really use them for the instantaneous stuff, but I do use the "over time" display...jmho.../s~

I'm also thinking with your philosophy of in and out metering it doesn't really need two meters at all. One meter saves place and can show up the different of in and out meter at once.

Then just collapse them and theyre out of sight

...yup..."Then just collapse them and theyre out of sight"...mostly how I roll these days :D...but "thin bouncing meters" would be pretty good too.../s~

Here I go. ;)

Seriously: I find the solid one way cleaner than the others. :tu:

Of course people could discuss the given information instead of the visual representation, but I guess this should / could be another topic.

solid or 1pixel for me.

The Input metering is pre fader, can I change that behaviour? Pre fader metering is "only" usable for live mixing and recording sessions, but does someone use this feature? As I said some comments before in my opinion one meter for IN/OUT is enough! At the end the Output is the interesting and essential metering. One IN/OUT Metering should show up the sum of both.

Is it possible to change my vote?

Isn't just the "In-Meter" and "Side-Meter" = pre-fader?

Edit: I am stupid... sorry. :D ... no skill of reading I have ...

Edit 2: Still: why do you want the in-meter behaves like the out-meter, when you do have the out-meter? Or I do not get your problem here, sorry.

No problem, but take an eq and if you change nothing, in and out are the same. Other behaviour on dynamic plugins.
I like the in/out combination of voxengo, Vojtech doesn't like, but it's much easier for gain staging in my opinion.

I did and in both cases the behaviour of the meters were the same. Am I still missing something here? :?
