As I understand, Analog Laboratory was authorized through Elicenser. Any suggestions how to authorize it now that Arturia stopped using Elicenser?
Addition. According to Arturia, there's no way of authorizing the Analog Laboratory now. What do you do then, when you need to edit a project where the plugin is used?

If the license is on your Elicenser dongle, then just plug it in and continue to use the plugin.thomaskyhn wrote:As I understand, Analog Laboratory was authorized through Elicenser. Any suggestions how to authorize it now that Arturia stopped using Elicenser?

I've never used a dongle. I've only used the eLicenser Control Center.T-CM11 wrote:If the license is on your Elicenser dongle, then just plug it in and continue to use the plugin.thomaskyhn wrote:As I understand, Analog Laboratory was authorized through Elicenser. Arturia suggests I replace the plugin with Analog Lab 2 and start from scratch.

But you said you need to reinstall the plugin... If it only ever worked with the elicenser dongle... then you've never used it?thomaskyhn wrote: I've never used a dongle. I've only used the eLicenser Control Center.

I've only used the Soft-eLicenser, if that's what it's called – I've only used software authorization.T-CM11 wrote:But you said you need to reinstall the plugin... If it only ever worked with the elicenser dongle... then you never used it?

I didn't know the Arturia plugins ever worked with the Soft-eLicenser....thomaskyhn wrote:I've only used the Soft-eLicenser, if that's what it's called – I've only used software authorization.T-CM11 wrote:But you said you need to reinstall the plugin... Anyway - the Soft-eLicenser is a form of C/R - and there's always the risk with that that one day they stop activating.

Quote from an old registration email (for ARP2600 V):T-CM11 wrote:I didn't know the Arturia plugins ever worked with the Soft-eLicenser....
"If an activation code has been provided, you shall enter it in the eLicenser Control Center in order to download a license, this will activate your instrument. If no code, it means that you may already have a valid license stored on your eLicenser, being hardware (USB-eLicenser) or virtual (Soft-eLicenser)."

This is one of those awful things about the fact that plug ins can save a 'preset' without you actually saving a preset in the plug in. Had you done that then Analog Lab 2 would likely be able to read that preset. I've lost presets this way many times, especially during the PPC to x86 switch on OSX, many developers rewrote the code in a way that made saved states of plug ins useless.thomaskyhn wrote:As I understand, Analog Laboratory was authorized through Elicenser. Also, I recall being able to use the eLicenser for Spark Dubstep past the switch. Maybe try emailing Arturia again about it?

They wrote that there was no way of authorizing it – except if I had the license on a dongle.machinesworking wrote:Also, I recall being able to use the eLicenser for Spark Dubstep past the switch. Maybe try emailing Arturia again about it?
These authorization systems are not always in the customers' best interest.

Change that to never. Authorization systems are a punishment on actual customers for the indiscretions of thieves. I suppose you could say they're like locks, sometimes you lock yourself out.thomaskyhn wrote:They wrote that there was no way of authorizing it – except if I had the license on a dongle.machinesworking wrote:Also, I recall being able to use the eLicenser for Spark Dubstep past the switch. That's what I first thought, but in the download section ( https://www.arturia.com/support/updates&manuals ) is the two Analogue Laboratory versions (1.2.4.126 - dated 1.2.4.126, and 2.0.4.1155 - dated 22-Nov-2016) but the link archive.org link that sprnva posted it had Analog Lab (v1.2.0.405 - dated 01-Dec-2014) and Analog Laboratory (v1.5.2 - dated 24-Jul-2012)....Harry_HH wrote:Are these two things? I think that the later is just ver.2.0 of the previous.mcbpete wrote:I'm curious - What's the difference between [the now removed] Analog Lab and the Analog Laboratory? .....Sorry ... I just confused myself with version numbering !

Do you happen to have a spare 20 min to knock out some audio file comparisons of the two? I'm mostly curious to hear the difference between just raw saw waves, square waves, etc.machinesworking wrote:Just a shout out to Arturia for Matrix 12. Besides being somewhat fiddly with passing plug in evaluation, it's surprisingly dead on. I have an Oberheim Xpander and comparing factory presets it's really quite close, maybe if you're an expert you can tell it was the only thing playing, but in a mix I doubt anyone would be able to tell. To be honest I can't say this about all Arturia emulations, but the Matrix 12 is close enough to fool most people.
Now if they added SysEx support to the plug in I could upload my sounds etc.
As you can see from my screen name, I am a huge Xpander fan. I've just never had balls to pull the trigger on one (especially at today's prices!)
