No dark magic, of course

Kick is done with resonant filter sweeps, 3 layers. (And comp+eq)
Don't know why people think you always need a pitch envelope for a snare.
Mine is done additive ... well, I used 5 layers. The ideas come from this tutorial https://web.archive.org/web/20160405034 ... ts0302.asp

Started of as a swung house track in Ableton live 9 . Didn't like that and mix as often case in Ableton sounded Abletonish and naff. So took midi files and made more straight electro beat version in trusty old Cubase sx 2.

17 Nablas used a couple of the presets but mostly made sounds including the challenging drums!

My I suggest something. Could be my listening environment, but I would like to suggest, that you try to adjust the mixing a bit in favour of mids and hights and reduce the basedrum slightly.
Audacity (the free Wav-Editor) tells me that your track has only -26 DB RMS (A-weigthed) whereas the Track CarbonDioxid has -12. You could just go and compare your tracks waveform - a lot of peaks and less sound inbetween - to what the track CarbonDioxid looks in the editor, it's far more compact. I think you could use a compressor or limiter on your basedrum and some gentle maximizer in your sum track...
