No, I mean- the C drive is M.2, which is very small thingy that plugs directly to the motherboard, not SATA, not PCIE port, M.2 port. There are 2 slots, so it was in Slot 2 when Windows installed, but then moved to Slot 1. I don't think it is significant as I changed SATA ports and cables for my SSDs in the past, but I don't know if M.2 may be more sensitive to it. But it is grasping for straws. The letter did not change, it is still C, just the port it connected to changed.

Those errors are not related.

You could take the "proper" approach in trying to determine what the problem is here (and fix it), or you can do as some have suggested, and burn the ground by wiping everything off the drive and re-installing everything.

Since no one is trying to methodically rule out what could be the culprit, you'll probably find yourself wiping out Windows. That's a shame, but at least with the weekend coming up, you'll have plenty of time to work on it. Hopefully, Cakewalk will get back to you before then. Keep in mind, their default answer (as is the case with most software developers) will be "re-install it". That's not a "solution", though it may solve the problem for now.

I honestly hope you find out what it is, but unfortunately, you're not trying to determine what's wrong with "Sonar"; you're just chasing a bunch of other things that aren't related. Still, you may get to some resolution eventually, though I hope you don't have to wipe Windows off and start over again just to get there.

Oh, you mean the C++ Libs? It's normal to have many of them installed.

You have very fast Hard Drive and processor. Reinstalling Windows with all drivers necessary won't take more than one hour!

I usually start with the easiest less time consuming solutions, and this clean install is one of them. It also would tell you possible hardware failure during the installation or after it.

I suggest to clone the partition or the whole disk to an image in external USB drive, then next time, you just clone it back instead of reinstalling.

So, my plan would be to first check everything is working from a clean install, then Sonar, then if not working, then begin to check SSD and Mem then in the end the various sections of the motherboard as it is the most tricky one. So, from the easiest to most difficult one.

Just last question. All hardware components came in closed boxes, right?

It is important to point out that it IS new install. The system is less than a week old. When you recommend to reinstall OS, remember that it was just installed and it already has a problem. There is no guaranty that this would not persist after the installation. I just installed the Windows 10, then drivers, then V-Nand 3D driver for SSD, then Antivirus, then Sonar. So if I re-install without knowing what causing the problem, what would prevent it from happening again? I uninstalled Sonic Suite- that came with Asus drivers. I re-installed Sonar as Administrator with Antivirus disabled. I even uninstalled the Presonus ASIO driver. It still not able to load Sonar. If I reinstall OS, I will have to use the same Chipset, the same drivers, good chance- it will do it again and not able to load Sonar again.

I did check and everything was working after clean install, except minor issue with Antivirus, which required re-install of Antivirus. Then Sonar did not work. Then I went in to "Enable Windows features" and enabled .NET Framework 3.5. It was not checked, I only had .Net Framework 4.6 check mark next to. So I enabled 3.5. Then I installed Visual C++ redistributables 2012, and then AISuite stopped working. This is my story.

My memory was overclocked to 3000 Mhz. I turned it down to 1333Mhz by changing XMP profile to Auto. Did not help. My Processor was overclocked at some point for day or two, but I turned it back to factory.

Why check the disk? Any symptoms that it is disk? Any symptoms that it is memory? The memory shows everywhere as expected.

I'm not suggesting re-install. That's a ridiculous waste of time. Having Windows fix permissions errors on the disk can fix a LOT of bizarre problems.

Which "Antivirus" are you using? This is the first I've seen you mention it.

I really don't believe your issue has anything to do with the hardware of the computer, but if you want to keep chasing those issues, that's your choice. I'm trying to help only with SONAR. I'm not suggesting you wipe the disk or re-install Windows or any other non-SONAR-related software.

if all you have installed is windows, drivers, windows updates and sonar then in all likelihood it's going to take less time to just blow the drive away and reload than to endlessly chase your tail trying to troubleshoot things

you did make sure all windows updates were applied before installing anything else didn't you?

The updates downloaded automatically, so yes, they all installed.

The Antivirus is Norton. I been using it on ly old systems for 20 years. It has issue with it that might of be caused by habging after threat removal, which I remember it attempted to remove something minor and I told it to put it back. So we had to reinstall Norton. There is nothing in quarantine now.

unless they have a slow 'net connection, in which case installing updates could take considerably longer....

however, once there is a clean install, ghosting that would be a smart move.

Just saying that it is (was) clean install, and without knowing what went wrong, it would happen again- should I just keep trying until it works?

My plan is as follows: if Cakewalk dont step up to the plate and offers some suggestions, I am thinking to install Sonar from the web (not control center). If it works, great, I will know it is not hardware issue (I am worrying issue like CPU ID, chipset (Z270)) Then I will reinstall everything starting from Windows. The reason I installed Antivirus is because I dont want to install it AFTER and then it would detect Sonar and remove it before I can address it. Normally it does not care about Sonar. (It cares about Native Instruments everything, which not installed here yet). If anyone wants to look few pages back to the link to Asus Z270 Hero drivers and tell me what to install for Audio, it would help. What I installed for drivers actually installed Sonic Suite which I dont need. Thank you.

You can quit out of the Command Centre installation, and then find and run the downloaded installer manually. The preferences setting for CC will tell you where they're stored, and once you run the installer manually you'll get a bit more interaction from the installer too (ie the chance to set custom paths etc)

I like that idea, but I dont see anything wrong with installed files. The files are all in the right locations, it just can not open SONARPLT.EXE, which is not installer, or is it? It is a good question: Is the exe installer or not? We use exe to install the problem, and then .dll to run it? I do know that VST plugins are .dll, but what file is INSTALLER file and what file is actually running Sonar? Assuming Sonar already installed- why is SONARPLT.exe still needs to run? This is what gives message that it stopped working. Sorry for my ignorance.

The AISuite came from the Asus website, drivers section specific for my motherboard and OS- I had to select OS to get to the drivers. So I asume it is ok. I could uninstall it and reinstall, but then I would not know if problem with 2012 Visual C++ is still there.
