Oh man, we are talking devices here because Bitwig's workflow is all about devices, hence the device mockup... Of course there are several ways of implement something like this, but a device seems the easiest one..T71 wrote:If your preference is a device, why not use a 3rd party plugin?
Actually, Sonar's step seq is not that great and perhaps that's why people don't use it that much... I mean, it's ok and better that nothing but I still prefer the interface of step seq of FL studio, the speed of beat creation is crazy.........T71 wrote:Sonar's approach:

Just a friendly reminder that not everyone uses Bitwig the way you do. And the workflow is not "all" about devices. There are a lot of people in the world who create music outside of the program and simply want to record and edit it. Bitwig was also designed to cater to them.

There is one feature I dream about.
I wish there was a shortcut or button in instrument layer that gives me possibility to tweak certain parameter in all layers at once.
Lets say I have 5 polysynths inside instrument layer and when I tweak filter cutoff in one of them it automatically gets tweaked in other 4.
Assigning macro controls or clicking right mouse button to copy value to other layers is not ergonomic solution.

(i know, rightclick,.. do this for ALL pads. But would be nice to select a bunch and only affects those

Geist looks good for sure (never used it though) and feature wise it seems great, BUT by the look of it, it doesn't seem as fast as the FL step seq, and for me speed is everything in music production.. Just like the right click delete that is missing in Bitwig, without it Bitwig is a no go...xbitz wrote:Geist2(2 because it can delete notes with right mouse button not as the first version) its MIDI out + Drum Machine of BWS is better than FL

Different strokes. I can't stand the UI on the FL step sequencer. Sonar's is much better. You've polled everyone who's tried the Sonar step sequencer?Regnas wrote:Oh man, we are talking devices here because Bitwig's workflow is all about devices, hence the device mockup... Proper Transport automation:
Time Signature
Tempo that actually changes the tempo (and doesnt revert when you stop playback - problematic if you forget to manually change tempo before bouncing audio)
Has destructive delete in the browser been fixed? That was a nasty surprise (deleted beyond even the trashcan. No backup = gone forever)
I would love the facility to set track level in dummy clips in session view.
Because I have a whole album of backing tracks for playing live, and want to work in session view.
Currently setting track levels on a scene with dummy clips just gets reset on the next scene launch (unless I have missed something obvious about how to do this)
Once again, Time Signature automation
Working on a live set containing several songs designed to flow continuously?
Indian and African rhythms?
We need this!

About the step sequencer... I bet bitwig will have this in a year or 2?
Im not that intrested in it, but i cant imagine they wont implent it.
I guess they want all the "basic" stuff in it first and there CV/hardware stuff implented spot on and tight on clock.
I cant imagine they would let this pass by with these features implented specially CV stuff. I guess with hardware modulair stuff owners its a dream to have step sequencer. And i think they also wanna have it in. Fingers crossed for those who cant wait.
