I was thinking it would be nice if we had the ability to choose our own active presets for the left side of the easy screen.
For example I love how it works now for MMultibandconvolution. It has categories and you can easily find what you're looking for. However if for example I always use Bricasti IRs it would be nice to have them on the left side with the other active presets. Maybe I'm alone on this, but I think it would be better to let users customize which presets are there.
Of course I don't think too much development time should be wasted on this, but if it is easy to do, would be nice to have.

Yeah, I never use the active presets as I have built my own 'go to' presets. If I could set my own up that would be stellar.
Curious to know what ui stuff is going on with v11.

Actually I would even go further:
Melda plugins are pretty powerful and in consequence harder to set up and the standard gui might be a bit overwhelming for the beginner.
That's why we have the active presets, which is a good step. But why not make it fully skinable (background and controls), with free positioning of all knobs, slider, meters a.s.o.
Maybe add some fancy little lamps and more metering options and hire an artist or make a community contest for good looking active presets.
Over the last years I got the feeling, the main reason why some people turn away from melda plugins is that they dont like the gui. Because of that some others suggested to make the gui nicer (which Vojtech did and as far as I can tell V11 will make another great leap in the right direction). However there will always a "problem" that you cannot overcome within the normal editor: Meldas modularity and vast feature set will never allow a total beginner-friendly gui.
But here the active presets come into play. Hiding all that powerful stuff begind the EDIT button, optimizing the visual controls of the active preset for the sweet spot, and allowing artists to do their magic MeldaPlugins could offer the best of both worlds:
- Extremly powerful features
- Easy to setup active presets with an eye-candy gui
Cheers,

Well I'm not sure changing the current active presets is a good idea personally, especially as the will be some very pleasing changes in V11. However there maybe should be a button to the left that opens the active preset browser like inside MXXX.

I agree they shouldn't be changed, I'd just like them to be changeable. Of course some people wouldn't change them at all, but for those that are interested it would speed things up. As I said before it's not a big deal, but if it is an easy fix I think it would be worth it.jmg8 wrote:Well I'm not sure changing the current active presets is a good idea personally, especially as the will be some very pleasing changes in V11. A good solution maybe to have a button up to that allows you to switch between 'factory' and 'user' active presets. That way if you ever want to go back to the default ones it's just a click away and yet you could set the default view setup to be the user ones.

I quite like that option too vectorwarrior.
But when I really think about all this, I realise that it really only saves about 2 clicks.
We can currently just click on the presets and load our preset from there. If you save your preset while on the easy screen it will remember that and open on that screen.
So really is it worth it just to save about 2 clicks? Probably not.

Yep. Personally I'd rather Vojtech focus on features that will result in better end audio rather than minor usability tweaks.

Sorry folks, this just won't happen. For several technical reasons, like for instance - installer always replaces the factory set of active presets. Plugins can be inside other plugins (MXXX) and then there's a way to switch between the presets via a parameter, which is helpful to build more complex active presets, and to provide compatibility the set needs to be unchanged. And probably some more...

In that case don't worry about it. I thought it might be nice, but there is no reason to spend tons of development time on it, when you're already working on more interesting things.

While I would like the ability to set up my own list of Active Presets in the left-hand list, I now just collapse that panel and save my own "active presets" in a single folder. Then they are 4 clicks away (or just one click if I want the next / previous).
