getting out of Graphic UI Edit mode

OK I can get to the VSTi's graphic screen and tweak all the paramters (Electrik Piano 1.5 in my case) but how do exit Graphic UI Edit mode and get back to the mixer screen?

I assume you mean get back to the Receptor's mixer screen ? If so, can't you just close the VSTI's graphic screen (click the X in the upper right to close that window). That should place you at the exact point you were before you launched the VSTI graphic screen.

My bad on this one. Turns out that if you feed an ancient 4:3 VGA signal into a 16:9 monitor it chops off those fairly significant portions of the screen that allow you to easily navigate back.
