I did read somewhere (can't recall where) that Vojtech originally designed this as just a doubler/detuner and only added the harmonizer as a kinda 'well what the heck, why not?' He just can't help himself!

And in relation to how the plugins are named (the v11 thread), I can see some people wondering why a doubler/detuner is called MUnison, but I reminded myself of the old joke:
"What's a semitone?"
"Two fretless bass players playing in unison"
"What's a semitone?"
"Two fretless bass players playing in unison"

I just tested this in MXXX with a sine wave. I'm not getting the same results. I tried at first with 1 voice and as you said it only detunes down. When I added a 2nd pitch, the 1st voice was lower but the 2nd was higher. I tried this at 10 cents and 5 cents with the same result.
I set An OSC to play C4(523.1hz). I set stereo at 100% and then split the output into left/right so I could analyze them properly. The left voice is 520.9hz and the right voice is 526.5hz. I didn't check the standalone MUnison, but the code is the same so I don't think there would be much of a difference.
Of course with 1 voice it starts lower, but you only have 2 choices, so it has to be lower or higher. I only tested 2 voices, but from what I can see it does shift up and down as expected. If you just want to do this subtle stereo shift you can also use the width control in MHarmonizer. It allows you to choose which side goes up and which goes down if you want that type of control.

Yes, just did the same, OSC> MUnison> split L and R> Analysers. Seeing the same as you.Chandlerhimself wrote:I just tested this in MXXX with a sine wave. I'm not getting the same results. Wondering why it's different to what I've been hearing. I had noticed in previous tests that any higher detune I could hear as I turned up the depth or voices was fleeting..the notes then settled into lower detune. I guess we're not seeing in the analyser the changing emphasis between higher and lower over time. Also, just tested with OSC> MUnison> MTuner (to eliminate guitar transient tuning discrepancies) and not seeing any higher detune at less than 4 voices.. of course Mtuner is stabilizing it's detection over time, which fits in with what I'm hearing. All very interesting.

No problem, just looking at MUnison's detune down and detune up behavior in a layman's sort of way and marveling at the mysterious mathematics of it all.MeldaProduction wrote:Ok folks, no time to read all that, so is it all ok, or there is some problem / question ?
