Poll: Which MTurboComp layout do you like most?

Currently it looks like this:

Seems more logical as all detector stuff is in a single panel. What do you think?

Small difference the green buttons on the second one seem a little clearer more contrast other than that it's pretty much the same for how it looks from my point of view.

I see what you've done, and I understand the logic, but it looks messier because of the wasted space for the frequency/BW controls. Therefore the original looks neater and more 'visually optimized' to me... although I understand the desire to put the detector controls together. So neither is perfect... which is why I voted for the original, as if it's not completly better it seems like a waste to change it. I like that style/theme though.

Ok well the new layout is much better. The important controls are bigger (ratio,threshold,attack,release) and the detector settings are all together which makes sense.

But why the wasted space at the bottom? Just put bandwidth next to frequesncy (same row) not under it!

Also, Threshold and Ratio should be in actual units, not %, shouldn't they?

I'm guessing the reason is because the frequency and bandwidth controls are related to the 'gain' control only, it's just a peak type EQ, whereas the HP and LP are standard hi/lo pass filters that are not related to the freq/bw controls. Moving them inline causes a little confusion to the user. Putting them under the gain control reinforces that they're related to it.

That's my guess behind Vojtech's thinking.

A common 'design guideline' is to have no more than three typeface changes in a design (fonts, sizes, caps, bold, italic, etc) so information can be quickly scanned by the eyes, and to reduce visual clutter.
(I don't own MTurboComp but I suspect this design is a 'beta' for similar changes to others.)

I recon you are right.
Maybe then the three small knobs should be gain, frequency and BW. Underneath have the HP and LP as buttons (in a single row)

I like the new one, while I also think some people are right: the frequency and BW knobs could be next to each other.
