I did not notice this before: But how do the HP, LP and Frequency/BW controls interact?

Also, Threshold and Ratio should be in actual units, not %, shouldn't they?
This looks good but that's the problem - Frequency and BW is related to the Gain only, which controls the peak filter in between the LP and HP, so from this design it is not so obvious, what it actually does.

The Threshold and Ratio are in percents intentionally, because on the originals the units were completely wrong. And showing the user ratio 3:1, where it is actually more like 8:1 for instance is idiotic imho, yet it does that in most of the classics.

Moving them inline causes a little confusion to the user. Putting them under the gain control reinforces that they're related to it.

That's my guess behind Vojtech's thinking.
I recon you are right.
Maybe then the three small knobs should be gain, frequency and BW. Underneath have the HP and LP as buttons (in a single row)
What about my suggestion?

Check out the revised layout in my post just before yours; or, perhaps:

(using a modified Aluminion style)

The lower one even suggests that the Frequency falls somewhere between the HP and LP.

What if HP/LP was below the "Gain" knobs? Wouldn't the "Gain" group of knobs be used more often?

Yes, I think the HP and LP should be below too.
I think the should be buttons though (not small knobs)

Buttons for HP / LP did not look so good; and, with the above, all 3 frequency parameters are knobs.

I use the Detector HP and LP Filter every time I use MTurboComp.
1 in 10 times I will use the single band frequency.
So I think the HiPass LoPass is more important and should be above the single band.
But who gives a shit if it is clear what it does.

Can't really decide on the button positions - however the font size of the "Compression" and "Saturation" labels is too big, that is for sure :-g
The text almost touches the borders of the frame - does not look polished...

Well, at the end, I'm not sure what now :D :D

I like the last one from Thavma most!

without any separations. the difference with other ones from other guys is that the LP and HP are centered and not LP left and HP right
