I rebuild the bitwig fm synth in reaktor ,
I find out what is causing it's quirky behaviour when a high fm/phase modulation amount is used .
It seems , that the internal modulation amount ( even if it goes to 1000) is using an internal clipping stage/treshold level .
That's why the modulation depth behaves the way it does when using high values .
It becomes obvious when the modulator is at low freq. and increasing the mod depth (set matrix to 1000 and increase mod depth knob ) , without a clipper you should get a continious pitch modulation , in bitwig the modulation clipper prevents this .
We'll never be able to get pristin fm synth this way .
So in laymens terms ( for those who don't get it ) , a high modulation amount actually turns the the mod.operator into a square like waveform , because of the internal clipping treshold
Please make this option user configurable

Feature requests should be submitted to Bitwig support. Or you can garner support for one at the Q&A forum on the Bitwig site. If this thread is actually about some cool reverse engineering of FM-4 then post your Reaktor patch and let's discuss synthesis techniques and your impressive skills. That way people can learn from you.

Just sayin it's a clipper on the modulation amount , nothing spectacular , just annoying .
A bit like your comment

Reverse engineering ???![]()
I knew there was something about fm4 modulation ,luckily there are things like osciloscopes and modular environments so we can actually put our finger on the issue .
That's all I wanted to point out .
