I worked out how to share remote control device panels (ie Bitwig remote controls for devices) for third party plugins. Basically these are device level controller mappings that will autoload with the device they are created for every time it is opened, and, if you have setup an appropriate controller, also automap to that controller. This is not the same as preset level remote controls which are saved within each Bitwig preset. All Bitwig native devices are already setup with the appropriate device mappings, and so are a few third party ones (eg some plugins from u-he) but most third party plugins are not.

The whole system is very flexible and makes it easy to create remote controls but there is no explicit way in Bitwig to backup and share remote control device panels once saved, as the folder they go in is hidden and the filenames obfuscated, which is why I dug around in settings to work out what files were being saved and how to share them. If we create and share them here we can potentially create mappings for every plugin available that people can just drop into their Bitwig devices libraries and be able to then control those plugins automatically (with a supported controller).

Normally, on Mac at least, they are in an invisible folder so you need to make folders visible to see it - paths are:

\Users\username\Documents\Bitwig Studio\Library\.settings\devices (Mac)

or

\Bitwig Studio\Library\.settings\devices (Win)

(NB The 'devices' folder is automatically created when you save your first panel, if you have not done that then create the 'devices' folder too in the above paths)

I've setup a Dropbox repository to post the remote control device panels I have made - the Dropbox repository is organised to make it easier to locate just the devices you want, but I have also created a 'All' folder with all current device mappings I've created in one place in case anyone just wants to download them all in one go (they don't take up much room):

Once unzipped the device panels need to go inside the Bitwig library devices folder - you must copy over both the 'Default.bwremotecontrols' file and the folder it is in (named vst-xxxxxxxx) as this enables BWS to know the plugin ID. I have zipped them up so that they extract the folder and file as they should be copied.

The idea of this thread was also to get the ball rolling so others in the community would also want to share Bitwig device panel remote controls. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far to this ever expanding list. Additional remote control device panels posted in this thread -

I might put them all together when I have some more

Here's one for Zebra 2 - not mapped everything as there's potentially too many user pages for usability, so I have gone for a compromise to reflect the most typical uses - but people can easily add more if they need

Here's one for ACE - doing u-he plugins first because we can browse them all in Bitwig so having instant access to mapped controls as well make this very convenient.

No problem - I find it is always worth investing time to create controller mappings for my most used instruments so as soon as I load them up I can instantly play them with my controller.
