Yea but apple is the worthiest company on earth, so they can afford that low price, while Bitwig cannot.
Let Bitwig grow and earn some valued cash. It's important for a startup to survive the first 5 years. It's not that they do not deliver imo.

I get your point, but what if this new license model convinces less people to step in.
I mean, Bitwig was able to let customers enjoy upgrades for three years without asking more money. That must have attracted customers and kept them loyal.
And now Bitwig tells its customers, old and new, that they'll have to pay a considerable yearly fee to stay up to date.
In conclusion, if I were looking for my first DAW and had to pick between two main players, knowing one of them would charge me annually, I'd go for the other one.

well, now with the 2.0 cycle Bitwig has matured quite a lot imo. This makes it worth to charge for an update. Sure if one only looks for the cash then one should probably go with FL Studio. Personally i like Bitwig for it's workflow/features/direction and habbit.
I wouldn't go for logic, hence i left cubase because i was sick of old school linear DAW. I was looking for a combination of live and cubase and found it in Bitwig with nice toppings in addition. So if somebody is into that as well, i think the price is fine. Still cheaper as live for example.

I agree about Bitwig 2.0 and the upgrade price they're charging after three years. But that's my point. They should just give us (and new customers) another three years of free upgrades. Hence drop the license model.

Studio 1 upgrade is also 147,77€
Cubae is 199 € from 8
Not sure about live, but i think the price for bws is reasonable and basically inline.

If you didn't allready own version 1 would you consider buying version 2 for 399$/379euro with only 12 months of updates?
I think this pricing model is limiting the amount of new customers

I guess there is a new version of studio 1 as well every year approx, so if i want to keep up with updates i would have to pay likewise. It is the same deal basically, just that with studio 1 or cubase you have to wait for a major update to get new features and with bitwig they will just push them out in between now.

that's a pity then, probably not in the interest of presonus and yea, if it is too expensive for you then just don't buy it. They have to run a company, so it cannot be free. And the price is within the scope of the market.stamp wrote:Just for the record Studio1 version 2 came out in 2011 and version 3 came out in 2015

Nobody here wants it for free..maki wrote:They have to run a company, so it cannot be free. And the price is within the scope of the market.
Don't you want the userbase to grow?
