Back to Sweet Dreams...Urs wrote:I guess the SH-2 has the same Osc as the SH-1/09, but two of them. The SH-09 is a bit more flexible than the SH-2 otherwise (audio input...). I'll check the circuit diagrams.hakey wrote:A little more reading and the SH-2 crops an awful lot - Dave Stewart certainly owned one.
According to this feature, they had a SH-09, a Juno 60 and a Prophet 5 at the time.

As for other classic sounds, is there no love for Japan here? IMO pretty much all the sounds in Ghosts were classics, but I'd plump for the opening lead and the pluck. Tin Drum was a great album. I always skip the first two tracks, but the rest...
My other choices would be:
A couple of sound from Rush (the pads in the break about 3 min into YYZ, and the solo about 2 min into The Trees) - Obies and Moogs, lovely...
The bass from Phat Planet by Leftfield.
The opening pads in Mmm Skyscraper I Love You by Underworld.
Cheers!
When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

Loads of suggestions, not much consensus.
If we can decide upon a couple of representative sounds from each I'll vote for both W. Carlos and Tomita.
How about the spacey (Bode filtered?) bells and the phased choir from ?

How about we draw up a candidate list and work from that?
I'll +1 for eurythmics sweet dreams!
Cn www make a rule that we link to YouTube for each sound and timestamp it? What do you chaps reckon?

Sweet Dreams as the next challenge sounds good to me.
I also like the idea of a link and time for each entry.
For me I don't have a strong opinion on what sound we try to recreate, just that we choose one
Best regards,
Gino

I would be overcome with joy if someone could make Zebra patches that reproduce all the sounds in Wendy Carlos' Switched-On Bach. Wendy has made the MIDI for this album available to the public. Can you imagine how awesome it would be to restore the original Switched-On Bach with Zebra!?!Howard wrote:OK, here are a few rather old favourites of mine:

One of my favorite synth sounds of all times:
The background arp in Street Hawks's main theme, which was composed by Tangerine Dream.
I never tried to reproduce it on Zebra as I don't master it nearly enough (and don't even know if it's possible)

necro-reviving the thread: I did a Have a Cigar lead patch for Zebra that I even use to play with my Pink Floyd cover band. I tought that I had posted it here on kvr, but as I can't find, I will post it here.

Should be possible. 90% is the right playing and the (phaser?) fx.Carbonflake wrote:I never tried to reproduce it on Zebra as I don't master it nearly enough (and don't even know if it's possible)
In this video Kebu plays the ARP on a simple Alpha-Juno.
