MTurbo Comp Parallel Comp prob

Hi all,
if I use Mturbo Comp (1176 active preset) with parallel compression, I can´t reach the same level for Output as the Input. Wanna use the Output level knob, but -20db isn´t enough. Have to try set agc, but don´t know if it will be limited by -20db of the preset?!
Need higher decreasing values for Output in this case.
Thanks and greets,
Marek

I don't see your problem.
I put 0d in. Wet/Dry 50%. Output about +2db. Level the same.
Are you saying you want to put -20 in and get -20 out. That is silly.
If you are compressing work at a higher level and pull the gain dow else where.
Get your gain distribution correct.

Makeup gain in compressors is essential to compare the processed signal with the input. Also for quick bypassing of fx chains. If the input gets compressed it should output a signal of the same loudness no matter if this is at -3 or -40dB... This is the "right" way of handling gainspencerlee wrote:Are you saying you want to put -20 in and get -20 out. That is silly.

You cant use any compressor at -40 input gain. Especially hardware. It will just be noise.
You have to get your gain distrubition working properly as I said before.
Digital is 6db per bit. So work out where your bit rate is at -40db peaks.

Just tested it with even lower inputs and very high compression. No noise or anything disturbing
Even tough MTurboComp tries to emulate analog hardware we're in digital domain. I think there's much more possible than you think.

Parallel compression behaviour is really strange with this comp. If I'm using the dry/wet knob, the gain reduction is getting less with turning the knob more to the dry side. The gain reduction should always stay the same, also with less wet signal or not?!
I wanna use it as an insert, not as an aux send!

No on else using this feature with the same experience?
@Spencerlee:
In my case I´m using +4db Input gain to get a gain reduction of -10dB and now I wanna use 10% wet signal, firstly the gain reduction decreases, not good, secondly I don´t get a proper gain staging level. The volume is always too loud.
What do you mean by:
If you are compressing work at a higher level and pull the gain down else where.
Using another plugin like MUtility?!

Hey Svama
Yes I was not able to convince the powers that this did not work.
Changing wet dry should not change the amount of compression just the mix of that compression with the direct.
Vojtech added a Gain Output Final multiparameter which was after the wet/dry control at the end of the chain. This has now dissapeared.
If you pull down the output gain it only pulls down the compression not both direct and compressed signal.
Very hard to make it work properly if you are trying to use wet dry mix.
In fact I would forget about the wet dry mix and do it the old way on 2 faders. At least you can get what you want.

I didn't read all of it, but is this about the gain reduction affected by dry/wet? Of course it does that! That's how it should be imho
. The fact that millions of years ago people did that using faders and the compressor meters couldn't know that of course is not really a reason to do it different way. Now it shows you every time how what's the actual gain reduction, that's how it should be.

Of course, and it's also different if you set different attack & release yet have the same gain reduction, so that's not really a logical reason.

But that's what parallel describes, I compress the hack out of a signal and blend this in, everything else is starting from beginning and no tutbo workflow.

You are still thinking the ancient way I'm afraid and I simply cannot agree with you, sorry.
