Waveform Linux problems

Hello.
I don´t believe these problems wouldn´t been observed during the beta phase
so maybe my desktop environment (latest XFCE) is the problem!
So does Waveform GUI works well for you on your linux distribution? And what do you use?

I am using XFCE and Debian 64bit (Testing - AV Studio distribution) and Waveform has these problems:

1) When the playback and "follow automatization" are on, no parameter on VST gui can´t be changed, it always reset to the default position. The situation is little better with "follow automatization" set to off but it is still nearly unusable. So i have to stop playback to change VST parameter. I didn´t have this problem with Tracktion.

2) Any VST window wont stay above the tracktion one, lock doesn´t work. So i have to minimize or move the tracktion window every time plugin is hidden beneath it. I had this problem with Tracktion on XFCE before...

3) Some another weird graphical glitches that i don´t remember right now but they dont break usability much...

On the bright side:
1) Waveform is great!
2) It didnt crash once yet.. I cant say this about any Tracktion version.

Now that you mention it, I have the same prob with vst windows.

But not even a hint of crashing.

On Zorin, a Gnome Ubuntu based distro 64bit

This is my setup as well (Xubuntu 64 bit). Let us know how you get on and if you can resolve the problems. I'm particularly interested in hearing about the experiences people have with the Waveform + Pack upgrade on Linux. I think I'll try to hold off until at least next week before taking the plunge! ;-)

I've bought the Waveform + Pack upgrade and have been testing it on Kubuntu 16.04.2. Everything has installed and the plugins (DAW Essentials and Collective) that can use online registration are registered. Master Mix and the microsynths require offline registration, which Marketplace says is currently down for maintenance. In KDE I am not having many problems with vst windows staying above Waveform, at least nothing new. I set up Collective as instructed, and the presets were not apeearing. I played with the settings regarding the presets folder location and it is working now. Collective takes about 45 seconds to load, or when starting a project it is included in, regardless of what preset I'm using. This seems a bit long and I'm not sure if it is normal, a Linux thing, or if I have screwed up the setup and it is spending time locating samples. I've been spending a lot of time testing the native Linux REAPER lately, and both DAWS definitely have their strengths. It is a bonus that all the extras included in this upgrade package (Collective, DAW Essentials, MasterMix, synths) seem to play nice in REAPER too. The 99 dollars was the previous sale price for DAW Essentials alone (now up to $150) so it really is an amazing deal if you've got a Tracktion license already.

So KDE doesn´t hide the VST window when you click anywhere inside the Waveform? Good...

I didn´t solve any of the mentioned problems but i have the same "problem" with Collection and Its loading time - itis long, but the instrument itself is beatiful.
Btw. it took me while to find out that preset files should be in .config folder, not Tracktion as readme.txt says ;)

I remember when Linux Tracktion has been free. Right now i think it should be discounted because we are beta users basicaly.

Actually, now that I look at it, it seems plugins are not getting pinned. Plugins open on top, as expected, but once I click on Waveform, they go to the back. That's regardless if they are pinned or not.

Yeah, so if you don´t have dual monitor setup there are just one solution if you wanna compare plugins -
make Waveform window smaller and move plugins above it... Very sad.
It complicates creating racks also...

More stuff not working on Linux with Waveform (Debian 8, 9 64bit, i3wm, XFCE):
- Plugin scanning hangs for me, T7 works
- Fullscreen mode not working at all. The button at the top right does nothing. I can reach fullscreen mode with a WM shortcut but then all plugin windows are always behind the Tracktion window .... T7 and T8
- u-he plugin windows don't show the complete plugin gui, some pixels are missing at the bottom. This is with i3wm only. I can remember that this was fixed some time ago but it is back again. T7 and T8

I would advise moving to windows from linux entirely. The smallest latency i could have on linux was 1024 samples. On windows you get as short as 256 samples. Moreover all vsts work well on windows while on linux only portion of them via some airwave bridge. There are no good soundbanks for linux as well. So you lose time and efforts with linux, cheers.
samplitude is the best daw for me. To have studio like sound before asking questions on any audio forums in the internet please read the book by alex unlocking fx creative potential

No, I won´t buy Windows because of Waveform, thank you...

Thanks but on Linux can get down to 64 samples/2.9ms without problems. Tracktion/Waveform is official supported on Linux so why not fix some errors? And I just don't want to use Windows at all and have sold all my Windows only plugins in the past years. I really like Tracktion/Waveform. It's a nice DAW and it would be great to use it stable and fully working on the OS I prefer.

The issue where Collective takes forever to load seems to be only in Waveform. In the native Linux REAPER prerelease, Collective loads right up. It sounds like Mac users are having some Collective issues as far as loading time as well.

The topic is called linux problems and that is to the point because linux for me had problems almost in every aspect. I had to compile things myself because for example scala microtuning program had to be hacked to become functional with copying libs from other linux distros and all that stuff. It's not only tracktion which is worth moving to windows but mostly drivers, normal 3d support, soundbanks, etc. The only worthy thing about linux was oss driver which is no longer developed. Concerning latency there is such thing as the more vst plugins you load the longer latency you need to process them. So the guy who told here that he can enjoy 64 samples is kind of deceiving the readers. Yes perhaps with one sf2 soundbank loaded he can enjoy that latency if his hardware is 100% stable but with dozons of large soundbanks loaded it's not possible to get such a latency unless he uses some hardware accelerators which i don't know. Perhaps some universal audio soundcards can provide it. As for me as i told the smallest useable latency for me on linux was 1024 samples and with a lot of vsts loaded it had to be 2048 and more. The more vsts i loaded the larger latency i had to assign and even with a large latency i had to spend a couple of days to record the song into a file because of the constant xruns. I don't care what causes xruns - either bad linux drivers which I believe are made in some hackery way or bad alsa\oss api. I am not a masochist. And when i moved to windows most of my problems were solved. And tracktion's engine is the best. It beats reaper totally. You can process audio with 2-3 nebula plugins in chain in real time while reaper chokes when you load some hungry plugin like tubedrive vst guitar amp, ie reaper is totally defeated by one plugin eating more than about 10-15% of cpu in a track.
