I'm trying to work out if there is a way to build a device like TAL Filter...
https://tal-software.com/products/tal-filter

I am able to set it up so that the filter follows notes, but I can't work out how to start the filter on playback instead of midi notes?
Is it possible??? Or is MUX not capable of this?

Cheers for any help I can get.

Would the Audio Envelope Follower module help?
It can either create a note when you start playback and the audio send in starts (audio reaches a threshold), or follow the audio amplitude directly with it's modulation output, at audio rate(!) if required.

yes, audio envelope follower is the solution. here is an example how it could be used: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=468119

in this patch it triggers sequenced effects. perhaps it could help you at the beginning ;-)

Not really solving my problem... The thing I can't seem to make happen in MUX Modular, which is driving me crazy, is the ability to "RUN" the effect on DAW start... Not necessarily note in, or Audio follow (Transient) but when I press play on my DAW, the effect starts... aligned to the daw grid, and running on loop... Then when I send audio into it, it can effect the audio, without the audio (Or MIDI) effecting the MUX patch.

Am I making sense???

It seems like the Audio Envelope Follower requires audio to begin the loop? Unless I'm missing something? (And reading back my original post I can see the ambiguity in my wording... Sorry!)

I want the multi point envelope to start running even when there is no input of midi or audio... But triggered by the DAW (playhead/clock???... Probably the wrong words to use for this).

It may be that it isn't possible at all... But if it is, could someone give me a heads up?

Thanks for the reply AndreasD, And Urvieh... Cheers.

P.S... I just looked up the term on TALs website... it's "host synced".

MPE's do run automatically - immediately when the patch is loaded!
Just do NOT connect anything to the blue event input!

E.g. the pitch shifter in the factory library uses 4 phase shifted MPEs. They always start running after loading and they stay in phase, which means they all start at the same time.

And the evelope follower has nothing to do with loops.
It outputs a note when the input audio exeeds the set threshold.
Or it outputs modulation data that follows the amplitude of the audio. If you set all times to min, disable RMS and convert the modulation back to audio, you should get a rectified version of your audio.

Yeah, that MPE functionality doesn't cover what i mean... i am trying to figure out "host sync" functionality... when i press play it starts and if i set a duration, say 1 bar... then at the end of that bar it "loops". I'm beginning to suspect it is a feature/function that may have been completely overlooked?

I might try a new post asking just about MUXs host sync capabilities... I think that is the real deal breaker here.

There is no way that a MUX can know when transport is started. Sorry.

Thanks for reply... I thought as much... what a bummer. Such amazing functionality could come from this.
Cheers V.

It's on the (long) wishlist to add a specific module that can generate events that are related to the host transport.

Awesome... I understand there's a lot to work on... I made a FR post for this, sorry for double posting, not sure how you prefer things?

Thanks for the consideration... Cheers... V

It doesn't matter too much where users post FRs as long as they fit in the topic, else create a new topic.
But please already note the wishlist is much longer than i as a sole developer can realize.
