It would be nice to get rid of the mouse a bit ie to have the feature that tracks are assigned numbers and numpad of the keyboard could be used to jump to the track corresponding to the pressed digits on the numpad with this track being selected automatically. Soon you wil memorize track numbers and workflow will become faster.

Numbers are already used for jumping to markers.

You could probably create macros to do that, and reassign them to keyboard shortcuts if you like.

Could you explain how to create such macros?
And regarding numbers already used for markers may be it's possible create shortcuts to use ctrl key as a switch to use numpad for jumping to tracks.

Sorry, i've just had a quick look, and I don't think you can actually select a given track, using macros. Or if you can, I don't know the syntax to do it ... my bad

If you have a track selected already, you can use alt- with the up and down arrows to select the next track up or down, but I can't see how to select a track without the mouse if no tracks are selected.

That's why i asked. It would do automatic selection. It would save a lot of time and less wrist pain. Those who ever used vimperator plugin for firefox know how that principle with numbers works. I miss that feature in many programs.

If you have one hundred tracks, then scrolling by mouse to find the right track is kind of tiresome. If you organize tracks by some principle with assigning special colors for each group then you could assign also numbers and jump to the right track within a second after memorizing.

Yeah, I can see that. I mentioned it because it seemed to be the only non-mouse way of highlighting another track.

An option to make location of tracks easier would be to use folder tracks. That mightn't help you though.
