Is there a way to upgrade to ZAP II?
There is not. However, there are new smaller bundles available that we'll be putting up today:

The DESIGN bundle (MORPH 2, WORMHOLE, ADAPTIVERB) on sale for $399 ($499 after April 30)
The REMIX bundle (UNMIX:DRUMS, PITCHMAP, and MORPH 2) on sale for $399 ($499 after April 30)
The REPAIR bundle (UNVEIL, UNFILTER, UNCHIRP) on sale for $649 ($799 after April 30)

Though they have these 50% off sales at least twice a year if I miss it. I'm trying to decide if I should get it or just buy a few midi kits from XLN. I'm okay with the few kits I have, but I wouldn't mind more midi choices.
It will work regardless of whether you own AD2 or AD1. If you own any expansions for AD1, you will need to buy the upgrade to have those expansions be compatible with AD2. However, if you only own AD1 and no expansions, you do not need to buy the upgrade.
Thankd - I have AD2 - it came with Sonar.

And here are some upgrade possibilities if you have the original ZAP bundle (+ one or more other Zynaptiq processors): http://www.zynaptiq.com/zap/upgrade-to-zap/
I guess Uncle E can do these as well.

Question, is addictive drummer useful for electronic music? Any packs in there worth getting that aren't geared towards acoustic drumming?

Ive seen mention of the Vintage Dry kit in the same breath as Justice.
Depends what 'electronic music' means to you I guess.

There's also Reel Machines

Reel Machines is a set of classic drum machines, nicely processed. I often use this over numerous sample sets since it's set up to be velocity-sensitive and is built with multisamples.

But many other kits are useful, especially for layering. I like Studio Percussion to add some realistic grit, and it's great for soca. Vintage Dry can beef up electronic drums (and the other way around). Modern Jazz Brushes is one of the best brush implementations if you do that sort of stuff. Modern Soul and R&B is really fat and has some useful stomps and claps.

There are also some interesting kit pieces I find useful, particularly the cajon, djembe, and sangban. Throw some processing on them and you've got industrial techno percussion.

If you're doing anything other than robotic, strictly-quantized beats, you do kinda want to think like an acoustic drummer, and I find AD2 to be highly conducive to that.

There's a kit called Reel Machines that states it is drum machine grooves.

First listen? Totally could be used for EDM. Though frankly all of these can be used, you just will want to add some effects and they will be perfect. Lots of the grooves make me want to dance.

Hey cheers everyone for all the feedback.

Interesting thoughts here, much appreciated. Certainly I'd like that natural, organic element to my mixes and acoustic drum kits would help there, no question. I'm also looking at XLN's Drum Shaper, as it's more within my budget atm and looks (sounds) like it would be a plug I'd use immediately, and often. AD 2 may be less of a priority at this point, then again I'm a fan of XLN so not an easy decision either way.

Just as a note, JRR Shop gives you an extra discount in the cart.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount it cost me. :tu:

RC-20 Retro Color has been by far the best selling plugin during this current promotion (not to mention the best selling new plugin of the year). DS-10 Drum Shaper is second and United Heavy is third.

Hmm, that's one I never considered really. Have a number of trusted go to of effects plugs already, but based on XLN's other products it'd prob. be worth me checking it out all the same. Thanks for the info.

Sorry, no.

Anybody knows if there is a way to get the 30% NAMM discount on the Tone2 Rayblaster 1 -> Rayblaster 2 upgrade?

It seems that you can only get that through Tone2 directly and they appear to be the only ones not applying the discount.
