Teething issues aside, thanks for Waveform

OK, sure, listening to the angry rants of impatient dudes with a fetish for head-slapping emojis and 'I'm out!!!' rage-quitting theatrics is amusing... but I'd be disappointed if the casual visitor came away with the impression that most of us think this way.

Those who love Tracktion/Waveform know that there is nothing else like it. I'm sure many fans are like me: I use a host of different DAW's, but always come back to T/W for creative work because it is the best tool I've found to get ideas down quickly, and to shape them in ways that are inspiring both musically and artistically. Sure, there are bugs to fix in the new version, but there are also tremendous advances in just the sorts of tools that T/W users love. So go forth and continue fixing issues, but be assured there is a quiet mob of musicians like me who are in it for the long haul, thrilled that Waveform exists, and eager to see it become the best version of Tracktion ever. We survived years in the wilderness when there was no Tracktion at all: thank you, thank you for continuing to move it forward.

Tracktion, and now Waveform, is the first app I go to for sketching out musical ideas, it's quick to open, easy to use and the retrospective record is a lifesaver. Wish other hosts had that. I prefer Bitwig for more complex stuff though as I still find Waveform to be rather glitchy.

I get that people are pleased to see a new release of Tracktion and I'm happy that there's life in the old dog yet (I've been using Tracktion from T4->T7 and I don't use any other DAWs although I've looked at most of them).

What disappoints me is the lack of real progress in Waveform - take a look at the changes between T6->T7 and you'll see a bunch of improvements - T7->Waveform gives us:

Improved MIDI (great! genuinely useful)
Mixer - ultimately just a different view of something we already had.
Collective - bundled sampler/synth (nice but for those of us with preferred sampler/synths, where's the value?).
Master Mix/Micro-Synth - two old plugins that I honestly believe were only bundled 'cause they're not selling anymore and/or to pad out an otherwise underwhelming upgrade.

The only real workflow improvement here (i.e. something you couldn't do with T7) is the MIDI stuff (and some bug fixes of course). T7 was a $30 upgrade for a *lot* more than Waveform offers in comparison - the $50 price plus very little in the way of true progress (after a whole year of development) means I'll be sitting this upgrade cycle out.

Plus the bit that writes your music for you with a few clicks.

I respect that everyone has their own ideas about value, but I think there is more than enough included to justify the $50, especially considering what I've spent on my last few upgrades for other DAWs. :)

But bigger picture, I appreciate what a leap of faith if was on part of the TSC folks to reanimate the Tracktion corpse. I think this release represents a major commitment to the future, and my upgrade fee is, in part, my small way of helping insure we see Waveform 2, Waveform 3, etc. If too many of us 'sit one out' that might not happen.

I'm on T6 and I didn't find enough useful improvements in T7 for me to upgrade. Waveform, on the other hand, contain new features I've been wishing for a long time. I will upgrade to Waveform as soon as the initial bugs are fixed.

Did you actually delete it (i.e. from the hard disk) or just close the project (so it doesn't appear in the list anymore)?

If you just closed it you should find it in an "examples" folder in your Waveform settings directory e.g.
"~/Library/Application Support/Tracktion/Waveform/examples/".

If you did delete it, you can find an archive of it installed here: "/Library/Application Support/Tracktion/Waveform/Demo Songs"
