They can't even scan VST plugins without crashing. Don't give them your money.

Win 10x64 system.
"Waveform" has now crashed (poof crashed) over 10 times just scanning VST plugins.
The first sign of piece of shit software is when you can't even set it up.
Save yourself the pain and don't give them your money.

This might seem like an obvious question but have you tried isolating to which vst crashes waveform?

It's not a particular VST. They will blacklist them when they fail to scan. I've had 3 crashes just getting through the UAD plugins folder. But on restart, it resumes scanning VSTs without blacklisting any of them.

Ok well that then, the uad plugins folder. Does waveform behave when you don't scan the uad folder?

My win 8.1 music computer has had no problems with scanning vst folders.
However internet computer with win 10 that has 32 bit waveform has had a problem with Jamstixs, was working fine before, I suspect win10 update is the culprit _ (possibly)

I had trouble scanning for plugins with T7 (or T6? both?) when they were released - lots of crashes. What's new for me with Waveform is that it hangs when I try to load the UI of some plugins (that worked great in T7).
I'm confident it'll be worked out over the next month or three.

Some people stamp their feet and get shouty, some people email support. It works here. I like it.solar28 wrote:Win 10x64 system.

And some people stamp on their feet because it still crashes after they had sent a mail to the support team.jabe wrote:Some people stamp their feet and get shouty, some people email support. It works here. I like it.solar28 wrote:Win 10x64 system.

Sending an email to support doesn't fix the crash. We still have to replicate it, fix it and ship a new version for that to happen.dupont wrote:And some people stamp on their feet because it still crashes after they had sent a mail to the support team.jabe wrote:Some people stamp their feet and get shouty, some people email support. I had this problem, but it didn't bother me like that. Also encountered this with T7 upon its release. I just kept restarting and scanning until the job was finished. *shrug*

Maybe add this to the to do list ?
Plug-In Sandboxing
Damage Control.
Never again will a single plugin take down your entire project. The “sandboxing” feature built-in to Bitwig Studio ensures plug-in crashes will not interrupt valuable production time, or your performance on stage. Bitwig Studio protects your workflow while efficiently running your VSTs for non-stop creativity.

Yes, this is something we're interested in adding but it's not a trivial task to implement (hence why very few other hosts have done it) and we simply don't have the resources at the moment.crossovercable wrote:Maybe add this to the to do list ?

We are looking in to other ways to protect your Edit data though and will hopefully add these in the near future which should reduce the risk of losing work.

I'd like to look in to the original issue reported here but I'm a little unclear what the problem was.
Can I assume it was that UA VST2 plugins were causing crashes whilst being scanned on Windows 10 x64?
Has anyone else been able to confirm these issues?
Would it be possible for the OP to post a log file so we can see specific plugins that are causing problems during the scan process please?
