There was nothing that sounded like that in the mid 80s. . If you can't dance to house music, it has been said, that you can't dance.
Ghettosynth has just made dance into his own image.

No one else in all history had ever danced until House Music was invented.
I never said that, but if you're complaining about not being able to dance to house music, then the problem probably isn't the music.

Don't worry, you'll fit in great here, KVR is chock full of middle aged men who can't dance and constantly like to gripe about that new fangled teeny bopper crap that isn't even real music.

Here you go, enjoy :)

No I am not.

Disco is a genre of music from the mid 70s to early 80s.

House Music started in the early 80s.

Indie music,again, late 70s.

Your calling EDM "modern disco" is just plain rubbish. The only similarity is the use of drum machines and synths. Disco had structure and melody. A guy pressing buttons to conjure up drum and bass lines and dissonant phrases is not remotely connected to disco.

I didn't call "EDM" modern disco, I said "house" is modern disco. You're funny man, but not interesting, and you know jack shit about contemporary electronic music.

And there we have it.

Living proof that people will always say the music of their youth was the best ever.

Your beginning to sound like a weird Beatles fan defending their idol.

You have me there squire.

I submit.

I am an ignoramus.

I know nothing about button pressing and dissonance.

Nuttink.

Apart from two hours of the most boring muzak ever at a wedding.

Again, if you didn't catch it, house music was NOT the music of my youth. Moreover, I never said that it was "the best music ever." In fact, I don't really hold that POV, you're projecting. I like a wide variety of music.

But house music is easy to dance to. If you can't dance to house, then you just can't dance. Don't feel bad, most people are afraid to dance and need familiarity to get on the dance floor. When I played in cover bands we used to play fifties tunes to get people to loosen up a bit.

Well, it wasn't your wedding so leave it at that. I think foremost the bridal couple have to enjoy it Grumpy.

Btw. I just found a pic of your wedding last year.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

True.

Except they did ask what music requests we had on the invitation.

And then they ignored over 200 requests and played very loud EDM for all the appreciative grannies, grandads, aunties, and small children there who all looked shellshocked.

You and the small children were supposed to go home early. Some people can't take a hint.

Why did you not asked them at the party how it comes? Also if it was really like you say why not leaving after a hour?

Ah, so when I left your fifties cover band sneaked in to play riotous covers for the remaining grannies and grandads.

Rock and roll.

Nice try mate, but everyone knows that you stayed to make sure that everyone else was having as bad a time as you were.

I had a fab time.

The food and drink were great.

And I did try to shuffle to the dissonance. :)

Repetive beat does not make dance music.

Trance,yeah

Dance,as in for all age groups,no.

Wedding,remember ?
So you didnt like the music...and you didnt dance. Thanks for the info.
I did dance.

And I suppose my point is that EDM has never gelled with me.

But neither did Stravinsky "The rite of spring"

Guess I am not a fan of dissonance.

I like music to have structure and melody.
The Rite of Spring has both melody and structure. It is true that many people have trouble perceiving them, but that isn't Stravinsky's fault.

There are musical structures other than verse chorus verse chorus bridge verse chorus.
