Is there a way to play the sound you're editing in Collective from a midi keyboard? It's tedious to play the on-screen keyboard with the mouse and how do you play chords on it?

Wouldn't you do this by assigning your MIDI keyboard to a track and then having that control Collective?

Yeah, you really want to use a MIDI keyboard, as otherwise all notes default to FULL velocity.

I assigned my keyboard to the track and the input meter indicates when I play on it. But still no sound from Collective.

What channel is your keyboard outputting? Collective will only respond to MIDI channel 1.
If your keyboard is definitely outputting channel 1, select the MIDI input and ensure the "Channel:" property is set to none so it's not accidently changing the channel.
