Yes. That's why it took several months to write a polyphonic voice logic.

(The voice logic in Diva etc. is based on object oriented development. Modules are told what to do. The voice logic in Repro-1... well, there wasn't any, but it's all about control voltages, gates and trigger signals represented in sample streams. So for Repro-5 we wrote a completely new voice logic that's based on the same sample streams, but still retain all the good things we did elsewhere, including multichannel MIDI support. It's the most draining and stupifying part of synth development.)

Yep, this.

(of course, anyone who follows this forum must have realized that I'm nearly exclusively work on Zebra 3 these days... can't wait to show off what we came up with for this, beyond the changes shown in 2.8 )

Amazing. Great to hear thank you!

Would it be possible to have Repro-5 read .wav or .mp3 audio files containing P5 patch data?

Haha. It will read sysex from P5, but I don't think it will read cassettes. :D

Post

Sysex isn't implemented yet, but it is on our wish list.

Wish list, or to do list ?

Now to hear sounds! I'm happy that it's coming, but I want to hear music haha!

ToDo list: Must happen.
Wish list: Let's look into it and see if we can pull it off with reasonable effort.

Sysex import is definitely on the wish list. However, Repro-5 has many interesting and refined features which go beyond "authenticity". An imported preset might be a good starting point but it won't have Velocity support, modulation depth and onset, all that. A world class preset for a vintage synth might be a second class citizen in a modern emulation.

Not possible yet... we'll spend much of the remaining time matching internal levels and stuff. There might be subtle tonal changes to what we have now.

Great interview there on Sonic State - Urs does a great job of presenting the synth and the thinking behind it. Can't wait to try it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Considering that P5 has z-80 this could be the way data is recorded to tape https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Spectr ... ware#Basis

Which is relatively easy to convert
Murderous duck!

The Repro5 can be a foundation for an ReproVS.There is much more possible with this code.
