well that means (at least to me) that everyone would get a discount, since the entire target audience is supposed to have posted in "the other thread". ;)

and then there's still the "name that plugin" contest. I've never given up thinking I made it

Post

Well he already said there will be a beta pricing. At this point I don't care I will have to buy this thing directly even if it is full of bugs, just release the damn thing

Post

if he could, colin would rather try to fix bugs in parts of the software he has not even thought of writing yet prior to release than get it out with bugs he is already aware of...

As a license holder of all loomer plugins I'm interested in this project and occasionally view this thread for updates. Is it possible to point me to a functionality list. Reading a few posts above regarding the midi module capabilities it looks very interesting. I'm wondering if audio processing will also be a functionality ?

Post

Internally it does audio processing for some CV-based modules, but it isn't an audio processor in the same way that, say, Reaktor is. Or at least, v1 certainly won't: there are some 300-odd monolithic modules and however-many macros, for just MIDI processing. I really don't want to think about providing the same kind of functionality for audio at this moment! I'm forward thinking though, so going full-on Reaktor is do-able with the current architecture, although admittedly not that interesting to me right now: I'd rather focus on the MIDI generation side.

It does also have audio processing in the sense that there is a mixer, with flexible routing, in which you can host plug-ins if you'd prefer to mix in-box.

Will it be possible to do something like this
?

Post

This could been done on a Atari computer more than 30 years the past with a program named „M“ , today you can still get it from cycling74 or you try Numerology from five12 its only nearly 10 years old now.
If !Epoch could not do something like this in its first version, we have to tell Collin about this "news" and wait at least for the release of !Epoch V2 in a couple of years.
This also shows how important your name is, the bigger the name the more are people are fascinated what you are doing, even its very old knowledge.

Post

For me, the best part of that video was how amazed and awestruck the interviewer was of some probability based note filtering. You could easily do all of that in Geist 2 or even the Sonar native step sequencer. No need for M or Numerology or !Epoch v2.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Post

Yeah, that's what I wrote my Midi Wrangler for, since Bitwig was missing this in earlier releases:
https://www.screendream.de/code/toms-midi-mangler/
Reaktor 6 and Falcon.

!Epoch should enable us to do much more elaborate things more easily...

Cheers,

Tom

@Colin

Is the Epoch plugin compatible with Audio Unit v3 and able to output MIDI to other tracks within Logic through the Environment?

Thanks

Post

It does indeed have a MIDI to host output that can be routed to other tracks, and it can be built as an Audio Unit v3, although I haven't looked into what advantages Audio Unit v3 offers over previous versions. If there is some aspect of AU3 that makes it worth supporting, I can release as a AU3 plug-in.

From the Logic Pro X v10.3.1 release notes:

"Logic now supports the Audio Unit v3 specification for virtual MIDI ports."

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203718

Presumably this means that Logic AU instruments can now output MIDI.

Post

Virtual MIDI ports are just that, Virtual MIDI ports, it doesn't actually mean one thing either way unless supported on both sides (plugin and host)
AUv3 tends to mean easier porting to IOS AU as much as anything else.
Duh
