Hi everybody,

Hope somebody could help me since I cannot change patches (and banks) on u-he Diva using the standard MIDI Program Change (or the Bank Select command).

I am using simple set, just one instance of Diva (x64) running on the SAVIHost x64 VSTi host program and a Nektar Impact LX 61 + controller connected by USB to the PC (Windows 7 Pro 64 bits).

From the Nektar Impact LX 61 + keys, knobs and sliders are working well on Diva, but the Nektar Impact LX 61 + < Patch or Patch > (and < Bank, Bank > buttons) to browse Diva Patches (and Banks) are not working at all, although every time I press any of these buttons on the Nektar controller I can see the Diva’s “MIDI activity“ indicator flashing, so Diva is actually receiving a MIDI message from the controller.

I put all my Diva Patches (*.h2p files) on the Diva.data\Presets\Diva\MIDI Programs folder and labeled them from 000.h2p to 127.h2p (as well as organized them into “banks” folders (below MIDI Programs folder) labelled 000 to 127). But still I could not have managed to use the Nektar Impact LX 61 < Patch, Patch >, < Bank, Bank > buttons to change Diva Patches and/or Banks.

What is missing? What am I doing wrong? Can anybody help me? I will appreciate any help to solve this.

Thanks in advance.

Important: changes only take affect after restarting your host – so MIDI Program patches can’t be added, removed or renamed on the fly.

I wrote a FAQ about midi on u-he products. It may help you debug your problem.

Hello Brian,

Thanks Very Much for your detailed explanation, it was very useful, I set up what you called the " Simple MIDI Programs Mode" and it worked fine ... unfortunately just for a while, when I created the banks in order to test the "Banked MIDI Programs Mode" and I exit the plugin host (in my case the SAVIHost) and re-load it for changes to take effect, I do not what happened but the contents of the file Midi.Bank.Cache.txt were totally erased.

Before I made these test I made a backup of the original MIDI Programs directory, so I tried to restore the original Midi.Bank.Cache.txt file, but still things never worked fine again.

Finally, I decide to uninstall and re install completely Diva but I was very surprised to verify that when I reinstall Diva the Diva's MIDI Programs directory was NOT installed this time (although all the factory patches directories were installed).

To be honest, I am very disappointed with these problems. I Do not like to criticize in vain, especially when the U-he software sounds so fantastic, but these MIDI bank/program feature it's not so good. Some other free VST, for Instance Synth1 by Ichiro Toda, have a more intuitive and better banks, programs handling. I think U-he must be correct this.

Besides when I was tested the " Simple MIDI Programs Mode" I noticed the patches were showed on the Diva's patches windows as for instance: 0:1 001 patch name 001, this is, for any reason Diva showed automatically the Bank: Patch before the nnnn pacth name of the .h2p file. Did you experienced the same behavior on Hive.?

I will write to U-he support to report this because I basically lost my Diva MIDI Programs directory and I was not able to recover it.

Thanks again and regards.

Hi Santiago, I'm sorry to hear you're still having MIDI program change problems. I've not encountered the loss of Midi.Bank.Cache.txt. The only thing that I could possibly think it's related to is Windows permissions:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 31&t=30689

As for the patch numbering, I haven't tried MIDI bank change recently. It's possible the newer software added features to index the patches so you know what number you're seeing. That's best answered by u-he support.

I hope you can get get these problems solved and working happily with Diva. It's a great synth. :)

Hello Brian,

It was not a problem of Windows Permissions, it was I did not uninstall Diva correctly.

I found some instructions regarding uninstall u-he products on the u-he FAQ and I followed, then I re-install Diva again, restore the Midi Program Directory from the full backup I made before the tests and this time everything worked OK.

I sent an e-mail to u-he support suggesting they should improve details like these, creating utilities to install and uninstall the u-he products safely as well as improving the documentation. I believe products so fantastic such as u-he synths don't deserve flawless like these.

Thanks for your great help.

Best regards.
