Hey guys,
this time I want to replace my old master limiter with a mux-patch
This is an experiment of a "multi-stage" limiter with "soft clipper". What do you say?
Maybe you can help me build a proper limiter?
For a first try, just turn on the "Limiter Knob".
Have fun!

Here are some additions and Improvements.
For me it sounds already good. Can someone sometimes check this against another equipment and ears, please?

OK guys,
I was wondering if sameone can build a better maximizer / master limiter in mulab.
I have researched. After several days I built this device.
For me it is qualitatively comparable to some chargeable limiters out there.
What is new / different:
- Simplyfied design; no Amp-Distortion anymore
- limiter-module was replaced by a compressor
- Look-Ahead-function to prevent audible distortion while maximizing
- Integrated HELP-Button (opens a small manual)
I Hope you enjoy it.
Please try it yourself. If you notice something, please tell me
Its done in mulab 7.3.19

Thanks AndreasD!AndreasD wrote:I will look at it in depth soon.
I admire your help screen!!
i hope the idea with the help-screen makes more clear what this thing really does. And supports everybody in how to use it.
I'm looking forward to your test results
cheers

I spent some time with this and I'm very impressed!
With test signals, various signals at +12dB, it is not at but close to Fabfilter, Sonalksis or Christian Budde's freeware limiter.
So far the best limiter I've seen in MUX! It really limits!
Should be in the factory lib.
From what I've seen, for lowest distortion, look ahead should be on and release at >15msec.
Well done.

thank you so much for your tests, AndreasD.
I am glad that you like it. My motivation for this is, sometime i will be able to use mulab on its own and nothing more.
cheers

Isn't that what a limiter is supposed to do?AndreasD wrote:So far the best limiter I've seen in MUX! It really limits!

Why doesn't the factory limiter module 'really limit?'

a limiter is nothing else than a compressor with nearly endless ratio. i wouldnt take the limiter Module for heavy audio limiting. but its really cool for quick and easy frequency-limiting.sl23 wrote:Isn't that what a limiter is supposed to do?AndreasD wrote:So far the best limiter I've seen in MUX! as you can see in the patch, for audio-limiting the compressor module is much better.
