You can display an audio clip as a backgrund in the midi editor. I suppose this is for copying notes from a record and such.
But how about being able to display another midi clip as a background?
It could be useful to see the bassline while composing the notes for the melody. Or the main melody while composing a counter melody. You can already see the chords while composing the melody, which is excellent.
Even better would be if you could select a number of midi clips for the background. Maybe in a muted shade of their respective track colour.

While using the panel midi editor, select several midi clips, and then on the list on the right, lock the clip you want to be the background. You won't be able to change it and you'll be able to edit your new clip.

Wow! So this already works, exactly the way I wanted!
I was going to ask what the dark area to the right and the tiny symbols above it are for. Now I know.
This is just perfect!
Maybe make those symbols slightly larger though. It's hard to see which of the symbols are "on".
I must say, I don't quite understand how the lock and the pen interact.
