Where are Step Clip presets?

I am checking out Waveform and seriously considering a purchase. Bit mystified by a few things - an update to the manual would, I imagine, greatly increase sales. Any idea when that is due?

Anyway, the concern at present is that the demo I have on my work computer includes a number of Step Clip presets, but the one I have at home does not. Go figure.

Now, the work version is a clean install; but at home I had to re-do it a few times to fix up some befaddling and wrong-turns made in the set-up. In order to fix those I had to first delete a folder on my computer called "Tracktion 4" - a remnant from some earlier incantation I think. The current demo at home now seems to have everything, except the Step Clip presets. Where are these located on my home install and how can I get them back in the browser?

I am hoping not to do another uninstall/install now that everything else is OK and would be grateful for any guidance. 64-bit W7 on both computers, if that makes any difference.

The manual is being worked on but the existing version should cover most of the features (just not some of the newest in Waveform).

If you want a completely clean install you'll need to remove both the "Tracktion 4" and "Waveform" folders. If you only delete the Waveform one, it will copy the contents of the Tracktion 4 directory upon launch to avoid losing all the settings when you upgrade.
You shouldn't have to uninstall the actual programs or sample content etc.
That should ensure the presets are back.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the manual updates. Would copying the TRKPRESETS file (but not the TRKSETTINGS file) from the work install across to the existing Waveform file in home install work? I am trying to avoid having to reinstall at home as my plug-ins were hard to find and get in order - hate to do that again!!!

Unfortunately not as the presets are versioned and the last installed preset version is stored in the CurrentUserSettings.trksettings file.
However, you could try and force the preset library to load all the presets again by opening that CurrentUserSettings.trksettings file, searching for presetsVersion and changing the value to "0". Start Waveform again and it should add the presets.

By the way, where are the presets you make yourself stored? I want to make sure that they are included in my back-up routine.

Presets that are stored in the in the side panel (e.g. tracks, clip, plugin, racks etc.) are stored in the "Presets.trkpresets" file.

Some other things such as MIDI patterns, groove templates etc. are stored in the "CurrentUserSettings.trksettings" file.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. All presets now available. For the record (and for dummies like me), the CurrentUserSettings.trksettings file is a text file to be opened in word pad or similar, and the relevant value is "String Value" (mine was "3" until changing to "0").

During all this I noticed a new version - 8.1.0 is available. Is it possible to update the demo, or is that only relevant to the full version? What changes?

You can update the demo.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.
