Playing around with Reason, mainly just using it as a drum machine, but I made the mistake of programming (recording and quantizing) my drum pattern in Reason's sequencer, rather than in Tracktion. So I can rewire the two together and they play in time, so far so good.

How do I get the data out of reason and into Tracktion to edit more easily? Keep trying to do mouse wheely gestures and stuff in Reason and getting nowhere.

I thought I would just export as midi, and import into Tracktion. So I gave that a go ... weird stuff happened.

First off, everything had dropped 7 semitones. Didn't hear anything at first, apart from an occasional kick drum. Zooming in i found the problem and transposed everything up. Thought that was it sorted, but it's also imported the midi with really slow timing.

Imagine you've got a normal 1 bar loop, kick, snare, kick kick snare, okay?

Well I now get a kick per bar, snare on the next bar, 2 kicks in the next bar

???

Does importing midi depend on the level you're zoomed in or something?

Both T and Reason were running at 80bpm, so that should match ...

Which reminds me, Tracktion doesn't always seem to think that C2 (for example) is where I think it is. Depending on the vst I'm using, I need to compensate up or down an octave to get it all to link up. Eg, Groove agent is so many octaves compensation, DR-008 is a different amount, Reason seems to be out 7 semitones ....

I know the setting for "Treat middle C as C4 or C3 or C5" but this doesn't seem to sort it out for me.

Anyone know what's going on? Been working around this one for donkeys, meant to post and see if it's just me or not
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

I don't have either of your issues mate, sorry. I did a massive 'export MIDI' from Reason a few months back of a whole damn song and it turned out fine from start-to-finish...

I'd hammer on my brain a bit more to think of what could be causin' your issues, but I've gotta get ready to run off to work. Freakin' bills.
