I was messing around with some plugins today and I figured out a way to make a crowd chanting effect. Here is a short demo.

(first me chanting, then the melda army)

Of course this is a kind of novelty, it might be useful every once and a while. Recording a really massive crowd in super expensive, so maybe this will come in handy some time in the future. I just recorded a video, so I'll show you how I did it in a day or 2 if anyone is interested.

Cool effect, like to see how you did it

sounds like melda unison + reverb + some distortion. it sounds okay but the crowd sound is abruptly cut off, so maybe you'd need several takes with different rhythms to get really convincing crowd sound.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Wow, well done! Eager to see an explanation vid on this, too :-) Has really a stadium feel to it!

@Svama Thank you.

@Burillo Somewhat close. There is no reverb or distortion though. I could and should add some reverb to get rid of the abrupt cut off though. I've thought of another way to cure that problem though, so I'll try to add it to the video if I can.

@ ZentralmassivSound Thanks.

I got the video done and here it is.

I wanted to demo adding compression to smooth the release, but I figured people could experiment themselves. I really like MUnison and MMorph, so I'm looking forward to experimenting with them more and seeing if I can come up with more interesting stuff. Hopefully in MYYY Vojtech includes a crowd sound as a sample, so this can be made into an easy to use preset. Anyway, tell me what you think.

Well done,
i like all your melda Vid,
thanks!

I had a job last year where I had to simulate a big crowd. Could have used this technique, haha! (well somehow I did something similar though) ... anyway: great job. Maybe you could also increase the release for one of the inputs of MMorph as well to have a smoother release. That's what I'd do - so that the "carrier" could fade out a bit and not be that abrupt quiet.

@kokotte Thanks

@Tagirijus Thanks. I tried messing with the releases in MMorph, but I found it worked better by compressing or using MAutovolume on the dry sound. Of course if increasing the release works for you do that, Its much easier.
