Again, the point is missed about a PUBLIC FORUM. And you've conveniently overlooked the ongoing vilification against me, when I came here ONLY to voice my opinion on PROPELLERHEAD. Go chase down all the others who decided that my critique of a COMPANY was a personal affront to everything they cherish.AnX wrote:Are you the forum police? This isnt even your thread, so jog on if you dont like it.
Ok, keeping this thread ON TOPIC.......
I wonder how many small developers will fall into commercial obscurity as Propellerhead forge on with entering a market saturated with 18 years of plugins. As a result of the complete about face on VSTs, in less than one month we have already seen FOUR rack extensions been thrown into the FREE bucket, because their developers have predicted that this would be the death knell for any hope of future sales.
For me, and the crazy amount of REs that I have purchased, I've always had a lot of respect for the small, independent and sometimes one-man operations that have made the whole Rack Extension model interesting to end consumers. Guys like:
Robotic Bean (who is really smashing it out of the park these days with some excellent releases)
Lectric Panda (a dev thats shown some incredible maturing of his creativity and skills as he continues to create awe inspiring devices)
Skrock Music (who I'm pretty sure does it for a labour of love, and perhaps hopes only for a few pennies in return for the countless hours of development
...and so on. Even the ones who get largely overlook in the waves of hype, developers like Static Cling who brought two very unique devices to the platform, and many other 'indies'....
For some, VST integration will make a rather small market a whole lot smaller when competing against the vast world of VST, much of which are already FREE.
We will never know the true impact on guys like this, or the significant downturn in RE sales as a result of this. As with life itself, change is inevitable, but spare a thought for the little guys, many of whom will fade into the abyss.

"...many of whom will fade into the abyss."
I heard none of them complain at the introduction of the RE concept though.
To foresee ("VSTs are so passé!") is to rule. As they say..

Ok i'll try to make it back on topic.
It's not 9.5 question as such. Can Reason users tell me this. I am demoing Reason ATM and would like to know this.
Is there a way to save chain of devices and reload them from the browser in to project - WITHOUT using combinator.
Example - i have kickdrum channel. I add few devices. I like processing chain. I want to save it for using in other projects. I see there is a way of doing it with combinator but i would like to save (patching saved) for example - chorus+ew+compressor - somehow. And later i want to add that chain to already existing chain of effects.
One way of figuring this out is to save it in combinator. Then i load new empty reason project and load combinator with associated effects there in to new project and then i select these devices from inside of combinator and copy/paste them in to my working project. Seems a bit cumbersome - maybe i there is other way?

Mr Overdrive
T2 Phaser
DIstort Chain
I previously purchased the latter three, and the VMG-01, well i guess I have no need for that in the future when I upgrade, so I'll not be downloading it. Plus, I don't like Normen and it will annoy me to no end seeing it in my collection hahaha.

Why would anyone complain about the advent of REs? It totally changed the way we use Reason, to be free from restrictions of the stock devices. And to be clear, although I'm unlikely to use VSTs (unless maybe I can run Melodyne seamlessly, and maaaaaybe will be swayed by some of the awesome 'ethnic' instruments in Kontakt) I do think it's a terrific upgrade, because for once it addresses one of the single most requested developments from users. It's a shame it took a commercial takeover of the business to get over the line, but that's how it is. The days of the stubborn ego controlling what users see in new updates are behind us.Rappo Clappo wrote: I heard none of them complain at the introduction of the RE concept though.

Just taking a punt, I'm not at my studio workstation to run through it but.... save your first FX combinator as a patch, then when you have a new track with its own new chain of FX, create a bus track in the mixer (right click on the dead space above the coloured square) , then select your first combinator patch for the bus.kmonkey wrote:Ok i'll try to make it back on topic.

and inside its programmer(show programmer button) the whole fx chain can be saved
found a better image (its the master device, but mixer one is same)

Maybe i wasn't clear enough. I am aware of that functionality. What i would like is to /attach to/or connect to / chain of several presaved devices to a chain of already existing devices. Without using another combinator if possible.xbitz wrote:

I think i just found a less cumbersome way that what i was doing. (i missed and now i realized when dragging devices or effects there are different indicators one being + sign one being arrow) .
I can save a preset in combinator then later i can drag and drop that combinator in to another combinator - kinda of
Since combinator can not host another combinator it will connect everything and make my dragged (new) chain below existing combinator. But then i can simply drag and drop that newly added combinator in to existing combinator and Reason will delete that second combinator and it will extract all devices and connect it to that first combinator. In a way i exactly wanted.
It sounds way more complicated when i am writing about this in public forum (mind you my english is terrible) but in practice with mouse it is really easy.

speaking about the track/mix device not about combinator

master
track/mix
combinator
devices, should press the "show insert fx" on the track/mix one

LOL!!! Priceless. Although I'll disagree that Force Awakens sucked.incubus wrote:Never seen the hunger games stuff, looks stupid. I'll never watch the new ghostbusters movie, the force awakens sucked donkeys and the first divergent movie was so-so, but the second one was awful (not watching the 3rd, or is it the 4th? )
The REASON for that? No midi drag drop.
It's not the difference of opinion - that's a welcome topic (as it should be in all forums). It's the delivery, incessant personal attacks/baiting, and just plain bipolar inhumanity. How has this ever been a good thing for any forum anywhere? This is why KVR has a reputation for being a nursery for trolls.incubus wrote:n/m, it's pointless.
In the end, a difference of opinion doesn't make someone a troll. But I'm in the EXTREME minority on this argument.
Note: I'm not accusing you of this behavior. It's more a description of KarmaShaman and a few others.
No, aside from a chain of insert effects (which are essentially saved in a Combinator).kmonkey wrote:Ok i'll try to make it back on topic.

Do I get you, you want to combine more than one combi into an one combi? So you uncombined the second and drag'n'dropped the devices inside the first?kmonkey wrote:Maybe i wasn't clear enough.
